By the next morning George had a 104 fever and stayed in bed until the Ed Sullivan show, not the rehearsal, the show.

It kinda looks like George is telling Ringo he's not feeling well and I would guess if the photo had been taken a few seconds later, Ringo's hand or lips would be on George's forehead.
