Imagine butterfly!Kitty scratching moth!Joan with her venomous claws.
In just a few seconds after being scratched, Joan felt the venom rushing through her veins. The pain kicked in instantly, severe and excruciating, and the arm that had been scratched swelled up in reaction to the venom. It became hard to breathe, it hurt to swallow, she was sweating and shaking, her arm went numb… And Kitty just stood there, sneering as she writhed in pain.
The others came in at the sound of her yowling and Kitty said Joan was acting weird. Joan said Kitty scratched her with her poisonous claws and everyone seemed to get mad at her for some reason? Cathy explained that Kitty’s venomous claws had been cut off by Henry when he married her because he didn’t want her to try and attack him and they never grew back, so it was really rude that Joan would claim such a thing.
But they had grown back. Joan had seen them, she knew those black barbs anywhere.
Kitty was lying to them all. Most likely to take people by surprise when she eventually used them for protection, but still. Now Joan was infected with venom and nobody believed her.
They all left Joan, no matter how hard she tried to convince them she wasn’t lying. The pain was so bad she could barely move without feeling ill. Cimex venom was rarely fatal unless injected at a very specific area, but goddesses above was it painful. And usually you would go get antivenom from the hospital, but Joan couldn’t move.
Joan had to spin silk around the claws marks to stop the bleeding. They were starting to turn black from the venom pumping through her. She sobbed and curled up into a tight ball, wishing not everyone would take Kitty’s side for once.
