Joey Gates is meeting up with his old college friend, Olivia Kim-Lewis in Innisgreen. After Jackson Kumarâs funeral, Joey has done his best to try to keep in touch with Olivia online. Today they have a chance to meet up in person.
Olivia tells him that she finally got Jacksonâs body from Lilith Vatore and that she and Lurch buried him in Ravenwood with his family. Itâs closure in some ways for Olivia. Jackson is finally laid to rest but the question of why heâs gone still lingers and who did it? Oddly, Lilith has been sharing information here and there with her. Olivia knows itâs only out of respect for Jackson. Still, she appreciates being kept in the loop. She too wants answers.
Joey shares about his budding friendship with Callisto but that she has totally friendzoned him but that she has valid reasons for it. Olivia tells Joey if he really does think thereâs something there with Callisto to give her time. If he doesnât think thereâs something there, drop it and move on.
While their conversation only lasts about an hour and they share a non alcoholic juice together, itâs been a good visit for them both.

So was Este. Me? I may have given him the silent treatmentâŠ.
Nevertheless, it was a beautiful day and I plopped Este down in her kiddie pool. She absolutely loves water. Itâs still early but I really think she might be a mermaid.
Unfortunately, fun was not all that happened today. When Este went down for her nap, my husband and I had to talk.
âVera, I know you are upset with me.â Caleb told me, he timidly touched my shoulder. Which is funny if you think about it. Heâs a vampire yet acted like he was almost afraid of me.
âWhat gave it away?â I asked, though it lacked bite.
Caleb grasped my arms gently and turned me to face him. âThe silent treatment was a clue.â He commented before continuing. âI had to find Inna and warn her to stay away from our family.â
âSo. You did find her.â I said it more as a statement than question. He simply nodded. I stepped back and thankfully he released my arms.
âI know you think you did the right thing. But what if it just ticked her off? Not to mention she could have sent someone after us while you and Lilith were off chasing her.â I said, maybe the last one was a stretch. She isnât James but then again, I donât know Inna. I donât know what sheâs capable of.
Caleb sighed âInna has a good heart. I hurt her and I think she has never gotten closure over it.â
I remained silent for a moment. Caleb did hurt her. And that is what makes her dangerous in my mind.
âThat is why I asked Dakota to stop in and check on you and our daughter. He is the only one, outside of Lilith, that I trust to protect you both.â He continued.
âYou need to remember that Dakota has his own family now and while James has been leaving us alone, for some reason Dakota and Jillian are still dealing with him.â I state, though Dakota still made time to check on us. But thatâs just who Dakota is.
Caleb stiffly nods.
âI justâŠ.I donât like it when you do stuff like this. I know you have a valid reason â in your mind anyway. I love you. But I donât particularly like you at the moment.â
With that, I left him standing in his study. I know Iâll forgive him for being away. Itâll just take time.
All I do is work and sleep it feels like anymore. Just did five days. Gotta work tomorrow. The last two I've actually had to work in the kitchen due to call ins, which I don't normally do.
I am tired. The 4th of July weekend is a butt kicker where I work.
Itâs a rainy evening in Del Sol Valley. Inna Cents has just returned from a charity auction.
Then she feels it. Someone is in her house.
âWhat are you doing here?â She asks, after getting over the shock of seeing him again. She hasnât seen him since he turned her â without her permission. Hearing about him and seeing him are two very different things. She finds herself almost shaking from the weight of it. The emotion.
She barely registers that Lilith is with him.
âYou involved yourself in my family.â Caleb states coldly. He stares Inna down. Caleb knows he didnât do right by her. He hurt her but he canât tolerate a threat to his family. He has to protect them.
âI didnât know Naya is your sister-in-law when I agreed to the interviews.â Inna says truthfully, crossing her arms with attitude, finding her inner fight. Sheâs determined to not let Caleb intimidate her.
Caleb leans forward, looking up at her. âI believe you.â He states and works his jaw briefly. He believes she didnât know at first but Inna is intelligent and given the questions she asked Naya, he knows she figured it out. âYou figured it out. Then continued when you should have bowed out.â
Inna looks like she wants to defend her actions. Caleb rises quickly.
âI do not care why you continued. What your motifies are. Innocent or not. You stay away from my family, Inna.â Calebâs tone is almost deadly. âOr there will be consequences.â
Inna is actually a bit frightened. Sheâs never heard Caleb speak that way before. While she is admittedly jealous of the family Caleb has gotten to have, she never planned to hurt any of them.
Caleb feels slightly bad Inna is scared but he doesnât show it. He backs away, heâs made his statement. Itâs time to leave in his mind and go home to his wife and daughter.
Inna follows him, why she isnât sure. Maybe to ask him the one question she has never gotten an answer to. Why did he turn her?
Lilith stops her, grabbing her by the throat. Despite both being vampires, Lilith is stronger due to her age.
âCaleb might not actually lay a hand on you today but I will. You take a step near my niece, sister-in-law or any of our family and I will end you myself.â
Inna stares at her with a mask of defiance â she is an actress after all. The two female vampires stare each other down as Caleb watches.
âLilith.â Is all Caleb says. His sister releases his former lover and they take their leave.
The first thing Dakota saw when he arrived home yesterday was his son.
It hits him how fast Slade really is growing. Sometimes Dakota thinks it may be time to cut back on some of his work hours. Between him, Joey and Jillian, they do well financially. He doesnât want to miss everything in his sonâs life. He wants to be the kind of Dad for Slade that he never had growing up.
Today however, Jillian surprises Dakota by sitting down with him to talk about Jackson following her. It had been a few weeks since Jillina contacted Jacksonâs spirit on Lilithâs behalf. Jillian hadnât been ready to talk about it but the more she thinks about it the more it bugs her. Not only was she in danger but who stopped Jackson? Itâs the million dollar question. She feels she knows but a certain warlock has disconnected his phone and she canât get in touch with him without stepping foot back in Forgotten Hollow â something she really doesnât want to do.
âI didnât really know he was following me. I mean, I felt like something was butâŠ.I should have been more aware. Itâs freaking Forgotten Hollow.â Jillian begins âBut who stopped him? A good samaritan? Had to be someone with powers. He said he couldnât move. But some vampires have powersâŠ.â
âThatâs true.â Dakota agrees, though he has a feeling in his gut who it was. The question is why? Heâs going back and forth between two options.
âI had no idea anything happened. I just tried to leave as quick as possible once I felt something was off.â She continues, briefly thinking about that day and why she was there to begin with.
âI think it was James.â Dakota flat out says. He looks at his girlfriendâs face and figures she thinks the same thing. âMaybe he wants to use it was a way to cash in a favor later on down the line since he was trying to be all buddy buddy with me months ago? But that donât totally make sense because he isnât claiming credit.â
âWell. Lilith is out for blood, so to speak.â Jillian says quietly.
Dakota pauses and nods. âI donât know, James doesnât strike me as a guy who is afraid of much.â
Jillian canât argue there, she agrees with him. Silence stretches as the couple think on theories.
Dakota looks at his girlfriend, a main theory burning in his chest. One he really doesnât want to voice out loud. He has a suspicion James has feelings for Jillian. Thatâs the only thing he could think of that would motivate someone like James to save someone and not come forward about it.
Jillian stares at Dakota, watching the wheels turn in his head. She wishes she could just confront James and find out the truth. Thereâs a small flicker of a thought in her head. Given Jamesâ past behavior with her. His words that he doesnât seem to mean to say at timesâŠmaybe James caresâŠand that thought scares her.
I wasnât expecting Dakota to make breakfast this morning.
I wasnât going to complain either.
Este has gotten to the point where she insists on not eating in her high chair. My little girl is growing up.
Caleb is still gone. I got one text late last night â heâs in Del Sol Valley with Lilith, still looking for Inna.
Dakota and I talked about his family while we ate our breakfast. Slade is growing like a weed too from the pictures he showed me.
Sometimes, in moments like those, it hits me. If I had made different choices, my life might more simple now. But Este wouldnât be who she is and I would have missed out on my life with Caleb. Even though Iâm a bit upset with him right now, I love him and I know he loves me.
After breakfast, Dakota headed back to Brindelton Bay. I spent the rest of my day taking care of Este and the pets. Cleaning.
Cutting my hair.
Lucky approves anyway. Maybe tomorrow Iâll go into the clinic and see if Rashidah can watch Este. Itâll keep me busy.
After Dominic and Ellie left, I laid Este down for a nap. I was restless but not in the mindset to to try to go into the vet clinic. So I redecorated the foyer a bit.
And cleaned up a mess in the spare bathroom -after I got Lucky to stop rolling in it that is. It was a good distraction. The day went on as normal but not normal. Caleb texted me that he and Lilith are safe. It did little to ease my nerves.
I turned to yoga after Este went to bed â until there was a knock at my front door. The moment I saw him it all came out.
âCalebâs gone. Heâs off chasing Inna Cents across who knows where. I checked her social media and sheâs been silent for days. I tried to find out where she lives but apparently sheâs really secretive about it. What if something happens? What if he doesnât come back?â I asked. I barely took a breath during my whole rambling.
Dakota hugged me tightly. Next to Caleb walking through the front door, itâs the thing I needed most.
âItâll be okay. Caleb is crafty and infuriatingly hard to kill. Plus he has Lilith with him.â Dakota whispered to me.
It hit me. Caleb had asked Dakota to check on me and knowing Dakota, he wouldnât hesitate in agreeing to. We had a small discussion about that fact before I invited Dakota to spend the night, given the fact that it was pretty late when he arrived and we do have a spare bedroom. I gave him some clothes of Calebâs to wear â Dakota was so thrilled over that, ha.
We decided to watch movies together like we used to do years ago. It actually has made me feel a bit better having Dakota here.
âThis movie doesnât make sense. If Grandpa Joe has been in bed all this time, how the heck can he jump up and start dancing?â Dakota asked me, confused.
âDonât use logic, just enjoy it.â I told him. We had found the old Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie on TV.
I had a hard time sleeping â knowing Caleb is off looking for Inna. That he isnât here.
I think Tucker sensed something is off because he slept on the bed with me, something he rarely does. Thank God for pets.
Still, I know I canât stay in bed all day. I have animals to tend to. A daughter who needs me. A daughter who wonât understand if her Dad doesnât come back soon.
Thankfully we had some vistors today.
Dominic brought Ellie over to visit us. Weâve transitioned to Ellie only staying with us one night a week, but she comes over often for visits. Thatâs the benefit of having her living just across town.
âYou seem down.â Dominic commented as sat down on the porch, stepping out for a bit but not far from the girls.
âOhâŠjust life stuff.â I said softly, not really wanting to talk about it. Thankfully, Dominic has known me long enough to know not to push.
âThey set the court hearing to make Ellieâs adoption legal. It just happened this morning so Iâm sure youâll be notified soon.â Dominic shared, beaming. The happiness radiates off him and Iâm happy for him, Zoe and Ellie. I truly am. Itâs good to have something happy to focus on right now.
I knew it was coming. Between what happened yesterday and the way Caleb spent extra time with Este, Lucky and Tucker. I could feel it.
âTesoro?â Caleb asked worriedly, sitting down beside me.
âYouâre going to go find her, arenât you? InnaâŠâ I said with a sigh. My anxiety about the situation was and still is gnawing at me. I donât see what good can come from confronting her.
Caleb sat back as I sat up. I didnât look at him, trying my best to keep my emotions in check.
âWe need to know what she is up to. Why did she keep Naya in the dark during the interviews? It is troublesome.â Caleb stated calmly.
Itâs not that I donât agree with him. I do.
âInna has a lot of good in her but I did hurt her. I am concerned she may have waited all these years to extract some sort of revenge. If that is the case, I need to know so I can protect our family.â Caleb continued.
âWhat if youâre walking into a trap? What if she wants you to confront her?â I asked. Too many what ifs. Too much that can go wrong.
âLilith is going with me.â Caleb assured me.
It made me feel only slightly better. I stood up and tried not to pace.
âI will be back. Remember all we have come through?â Caleb asked me after pulling me close to him.
I do. Weâve been through a lot. Even up to Esteâs birth when we thought James might try something. I blew out a breath and tried to focus on all that.
I just spent an hour messing with my game & mods because one driveđ€Ź decided to pop back up & duplicate my mods, which stopped my game from loading. đĄ
