Also, slight side note. Officer usually were grouped somewhat together in these things. So…Benny woulda been nearby. How do we think this informs their relationship. The fact she doesn’t even have to tell him, he just knows and he’s neither skittish about it or hung up on it. And so she can just have had that in her past and if she wants to talk about it they can but she doesn’t have ti fully tell him until she really wants.
I think this all the time. Because immediately following the war, I think she isolates from these people specifically because she doesn’t wanna be perceived by people who know what she’s gone through. But then later in her life it serves her to have someone understand without her having to explain and to just KNOW what she’s gone through. Because I wonder that all the time about her and Spencer like I know he knew nothing about her? Even the scar on her breast like I wonder what she told him.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot as I started sorta messing around with Benny and Lu scenes…
For Spencer? I bet he thought it was gnarly as hell, maybe pulled her top down during a heated moment and she didn’t mind she just wanted to warn or explain maybe, but his shocked and rather grossed out face made all the truth and transparency die on her tongue. “Flak.” she lies and she used to turn maroon and feel the fear of god when she lied but the long she’s with him, the easier it gets.
If she dates some of the nice army boys in the tornado project out from her college days, which I like to think she does and that she gets frisky with them, or one of them, I imagine her preemptively warning about the “flack.” This guy is smarter and not an asshole even if he is young and not super smooth at handling it, he certainly doesn’t make her feel ugly for it, but he also looks like he knows she’s lying. She realizes he probably knows it’s a bite. He leaves it there, and it’s really all well and fine with him but that lie and that lack of trust between them sours it for her and she feels she’s got no one to blame but herself.
Then there’s Benny. Benny who has guarded the showers a hundred times for the girls, Benny who ushered her to his other side when the dogs got too close in camp, Benny who whistles without fanfare for Meatball to go inside whenever she pulls up, Benny who neither shrinks from cupping her nor presumes to tug her neckline down until he’s asked “ya sure?” and then he treats it like it’s a breast and she’s a woman and he’s a man who loves her

Emily: reid, I need you to pretend we’re professionals, and shake my hand
Reid: we are professionals, and I will not
Emily: fine, I guess when you get stuck in a portapotty for 36 hours, I just won’t help.
Reid: wHeN i gEt sTuCk iN a-
Emily: with the way your life plays out, it’s bound to happen sooner or later.
Reid:
I’m watching all the girls get hugs from their mums post dollhouse. Except for Spencer, Spencer’s mum is just there not hugging Spencer and not letting Spencer have pills to help her sleep.
I feel like we all sort of felt this way the first time we watched this episode.
Um, can I not?
You really are afraid of the dark!
Reid: Did you get anything?
Garcia: Only that Fennigan's house on the hill is like the Bates Motel of Ozona, Texas.
Reid: You know we heard the legend.
Garcia: Reid, seriously, people that go into that house supposedly never come out. Spookie!
Reid: Garcia, could at least pretend not to enjoy that rumour so much, since I've actually entered the house?
Garcia: Sensitive. Sorry.
Reid: Besides, local police say that there are no reports of that actually happening.
Garcia: Yeah this is true, all complaints filed were false alarms. But then there is that matter of his missing wife.
Reid: Wife, what wife? When did she go missing?
Garcia: Almost 50 years ago.
Reid: No record of her ever being found?
Garcia: I got two words for you, my friend: "rear window". That guy probably chopped that lady up into delicious bites and little pieces. Think about it. She may have never left the premises. She may still be in the house.
Reid: Garcia, I'm sitting here in the dark alone, thanks.
Garcia: While you're waiting for a potential murderer to come home? It's kind of dangerous! It's kinda sexy!
Reid: I gotta go.
Garcia: You're having creepy fun, I wish I was there!
