S5 was simply nothing that stranger things was supposed to be. The fact that the show ended on conformity and everyone became something they never wished to become is distasteful on so many levels.
All because the duffers are miserable people who rather please a GA over the show that was originally made for outcasts. But as a result of their carelessness tone deaf writing they instead hurt so many people. Giving a message that shows “at the end of the day. You’ll never get what you want” all around.
Women, POC, queer, victims, and all these groups and so many more were treated disrespect. It wasn’t just about Byler like people think most people think it is.
It was a lot more than just that. It would’ve been a statement for the younger people of our generation and made a movement towards progression rather than regression.
It’s a shame.
No wonder Ross’s wife divorced him. He’s a sad pitiful man.
I was going to write this on my personal/private acc but I remembered that those acc are supposed to be seperate for a reason...
In this little unorganized rant I will be talking about political world building, character writing, inconsistancies in world building and plot, and other little things about the fandome.
PLEASE NOTE THAT I HAVE READ THE BOOKS MULTIPLE TIMES, I LIKE THE BOOKS, BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I CAN'T RECOGNIZE PROBLEMATIC FLAWS. ALSO NOTE THAT I AM NOT ANTI-ANYONE (Except, Ianthe, Baron, and Hybern, and a few other I can't be bothered to remember)
THIS IS MY OPINION, AND MY ANALYSIS, MANY OF WICH ARE 100% CONTROVERSIAL. You have been warned.
So here's the rant :D (There is some parts that I like as well that I think needed to be talked about and will be marked with a +)
(Warning: I will be disscussing many sensitive topics, which include abuse, mental dissorders, ptsd, trauma, slavery, torture, self-harm, alcoholism, nonconsent, sexual assault, medical abuse, and lots of other topics) These warnings apply for all of my rants.
Sorry about my shitty spelling and gramar y'all.
Character rant (1 out of ?):
ONE THING THAT ABSOLUTELY PISSES ME OFF... are the fact that we have so many important characters that remain completely nameless or sidelined. Lady of Autumn is a victim of abuse, and god knows what goes on in that house, yet she's never been given an actuall name. The only gay RULING couple, and one isn't even given a name. Thesan and his lover are completely sidelined, we get a small tid bit of their past (if that even counts) and then absolutely nothing. We Know more about Hellion, Tarquine, Beron, and Tamlin than Thesan and his lover.
Kallias and Viviane are the most healthy depiction of a ruling couple and they are so heavily sidelined it genuinly hurts. The two healthiest couples are completely ignored and it comes to show, with the little information we have, that the night cour mates are the most problematic relationships.
Feyre is not entirely blameless. There are ways she acts that just makes her a bad persone. And hey thats what makes her "Human" but that doesn't mean we should praise her for them. She is manipulative, emotionally unstable, and thinks there wont be consequences. But theres also the fact that Feyre is gullible. Which is problematic, because she believes a lot of what the IC says without a single doubt. Feyre doesn't listen to all sides of the story, or even try to work things out in a logical sense.
+FEYRE IS A VICTIM. Feyre is a victim, and she can still be a victim and still not be the best person. Her brain naturally filters things out, and that leads her to believing what she wants to believe. Its a natural response to trauma. Some trauma response that she has is extreme "Fawn" response (with Tamlin she tries to appease and please him, but with Rhysand its an over dependance on him), and trauma bonding
+Fawn response. Feyre has had this response twice. With Tamlin, where she walks on glass around him, trying to appease him and avoid conflict. With Rhysand she believes almost everything he and IC tells her. Feyre is emotionally dependant on them, and not in a good way. It causes a problematic disparity in information on key issues. I will go into this in a later bullet point. This aspect was well represented in the ACoTaR(intentionally or not it still is) and though she pisses me off with how Feyre treats Nesta, I think those decisions are a slight byproduct of her own ptsd not being properly treated.
+Nesta is also a good representation of ptsd. The side of ptsd that people don't like to talk about. Everyone seems to Idolize how Feyre goes about her trauma, but burns Nesta at the stake. What people needs to understand is that Nesta, Feyre, and Elaine are completely different representations of trauma. Which is why its unfair to treat Nesta like a problem when they all are, including the IC. Nesta deals with trauma through alcohol, sex, and avoidance. Yes, hypersexuality can be a trauma response. Nesta would rather feel guilty and blame herself rather than numb. The way this fandome treats and invalidates ptsd responses is sickening.
Instead of getting Nesta proffessional help, the IC traps her against her will. Wich is not only abusive, they invalidate her traumatic response, take away her rights, doesn't allow her to make certain decisions when its about her. Nesta has every right to be mad at them for that.
The fact that Nesta is treated as if she's the problem and she has no say in her situation. Considering Nesta's personality, it would have been more likely that, if given the chance, she would not be staying with IC and find a way to leave. Nesta is a strong minded individual, and though she would come back (Because of the house not the IC) it would have done more for her to find found family OUTSIDE the night court.
Rhysand is not a good person, and is in fact he IS abusive and is NOT A GOOD HIGHLORD (The highlord part will be explained in 2/5) He is hella manipulative towards everyone including IC, and the fact that everyone believes him to be this amazing savior is really disturbing.
Rhysand shows visible hostility toward Nesta for having a trauma response that is completely normal for what she has gone through. Just because Nesta see through his shit doesn't excuse the fact that he trapped Nesta in a house that you physically can't leave without severe bodily and mental damage, Rhysand traps her with Cassian of all fucking people. This situation should not be used as a learning oportunity for Cassian. Rhysand should have sent professional mental help for, not only Nesta, but Feyre and Elaine as well.
Rhysand commited medical abuse by not informing Feyre about her and her baby's life or death situation.
Lets not forget that in terms of age in human, and fae years, Rhysand is quite litterally a predator. We shall disscuss this when we are ready for that conversation.
The way SJM portrays the IC as the missunderstoon good guys pisses me off. IC is clearly abusive. Emotionaly, psycologicaly, financially, medically and more. Open your eyes guys come on.
Beron is supposed to be an abusive character that cares about power, his ego and pride. Yet he can get bitched around? Forced into joining the war?? In case people think otherwise, Beron isn't weak. Infact he is one of the more powerfull highlords. He's lived the longest of the current highlords, they all walk on eggshells around him. Not once have the highlords done anything about Beron and his massive abouse of power.
Is Rhysand really the most powerfull highlord? correct me if im wrong, but he needs Eris to gather inside information on Beron??? Isn't Azriel supposed to be able to use his shadows to gain information? (And I'm not talking about turning into shadow) That kind of defeats the whole best spymaster thing. Unless Beron is powerfull enough that gathering information inside autumn is impossible for Azriel. This is very inconsistant...
Morrigan is a complicated mix of irritating and poorly writen. Not only is she 500 years old, with 0 emotional inteligance. It seems Morrigan has not once gone to therapy regarding her trauma. That and blaming Eris for not helping her is fucking idiotic. If Eris helped her, she'd be either living in Autumn court under BERON. Getting tortured and abused, just like the rest of the vanserras. Or Morrigan would be DEAD. This is Beron we are talking about here, not Tamlin. Beron would 100% kill her. This is just bad character planing. Morrigan still can't sort out her trauma dispite having 500 years under her belt.
Morrigan has a similar ptsd response as Nesta, yet she's not getting burned at the stake. Hey! guys, notice how Morrigan drinks a lot of alcohol, is implied to hook up alot, and is HEAVILY avoiding any topic regarding her trauma? sound familiar? no? okay....
Eris is somehow well written and poorly planed at the very same time. Like his actions and behaviour can be explained (not excused, theres a difference) by the fact that HE IS LITTERALLY BEING TORTURED AND ABUSED BY HIS OWN FATHER. Yet people dosn't seem to understand the fact that Eris is genuinly trying to survive. He doesn't have a support system. And, though this is hypothetical, its very likely that Eris has watched his mother get tortured by Beron. Eris also likely raised his brothers to a certain extent (wich is why they listen to him, and stick together) Eris can't affort to make a mistake, because they could possibly all die.
Then theres this past with Morigan that is kind of obvious wasn't actually planned out when it was implied in the book.
Kallias and Viviane are the only healthy mated relationship shown in ACoTaR. Followed closely by Thesan and his lover.
Tamlin will have to be a seprate state of afair as this is getting long
Cassian and Azriel are also a complicated mix of good and poor writting and planing. Though they are both absolutely horrible people as well, and for a spymaster, Azriel is lacking an astronomical amount of information. Especially information that he should know considering he's a spymaster. The fact he doesn't know what happened between Mor and Eris is insane and kind of makes the whole shadowsinger spymaster thing completly off balance. If people want my stupid views on Cassian, Azriel, Tamlin, Elaine, or any other character let me know.
I would also like to take the time to adress the mid level depictions of characters:
+Azriel, Amren, Kalias, Vivian, Kallias, Jurian, , Thesan, Tarquin, and other characters are the only poorly planed middle characters that actually show that IC and the Vanserras are not infact heros but a seperate kind of problem. They all have really good potential to become really well writen characters if developed PROPERLY.
I have more hence the "1 out of ?" but I really REALLY want to see what people think... Like I'm pretty sure I might be burned at the stake.
Still I really want to discuss in the comments so hit me with your own analysis, or with what you do or don't agree with<3
I'm going to be posting some parts of my fanfic on here, since I prefer here more then Ao3. It's called 'Woops! Wrong Universe!(mw2×BO)'. This is the first part of it I will be posting rn!
TW! Swearing, guns, Richtofen being referred to as a Nazi, violence
——
Alston, UK
14:37 PM
——
The crew was just about to hop to the next timeline, fending off a horde of zombies in the process, before Nikolai had dropped a whole damn bottle of vodka onto the damn teleporter, which, sadly, isn't alcohol proof. Richtofen couldn't stop the sudden reroute from happening before they were all flung into some universe quite violently, all of them getting quite banged up in the process… fortunately, nothing broken.
Nikolai landed onto a floor of concrete with a heavy thud, the large Russian letting out a groan, gun clattering down next to him as well. The Russian laid there, grumbling in his native tongue as he stared up at the baby blue sky above, clouds moving by lazily.
Nikolai carefully pushed himself into a sitting position, rubbing the back of his head, headwear shifting at the movement before he pulled it back into place.
Dempsey landed on the concrete as well, just not as hard, the Marine letting out a string of curses as he pushed himself up with a grunt, wincing slightly as a sharp pain split from his skull, running his hand through his dark brown hair as he looked around, a scowl pulling at his lips. Before the American could get up, Richtofen suddenly fell atop him, pushing him right back into the ground with a thud.
The Nazi groaned, pushing himself off of Dempsey, looking down at the man as he sat back on his knees. “Ah, danke Demspey for breaking my fall,” he said sarcastically, brushing the dirt off of his waistcoat, making the American scowl up at the German.
The last to fall was Takeo, the man falling on his side, armor clamoring loudly against concrete, his katana, unsheathed, landed next to the samurai with a loud clatter.
Takeo grunted as pain burst through his side, feeling his armor dig almost uncomfortably into his skin even through the tattered uniform beneath the hard metal and leather of his armor. He carefully pushed himself up, grabbing his katana carefully as he sat up, methodically checking it over for any signs of breakage or chips.
Once he was sure it was fine, he sheathed it with practiced ease before carefully getting up with the others, all except Nikolai standing.
“Where the fuck are we, kraut? Because this sure as hell isn't the place we should be,” he growled out, snatching his rifle off the floor. “It's too damn nice to be the right place,” he glanced around, noting the buildings and how everything was… together. Standing tall and not crumpled in giant pieces of wood and concrete. Nothing was in ruins or soaked in old blood, it didn't have the familiar scent of rotten flesh and copper… it instead smelled.. clean? Not like the living dead? Fuck, he didn't know.
“Wow, quite the observation, Dempshey, I could not tell,” he replied sarcastically, brushing himself off once again as he moved slowly, looking around, trying to figure out what to do first.
Nikolai sat there on the ground, grumbling quietly to himself as he held his gun in his lap. It was quite nice out, sunny, almost no clouds in the sky… Not at all what they're used to. Normally, it was all cloudy, gray-colored skies, or it was just about nighttime, so this was a nice change from all the gloominess.
“Nikolai thinks we should stay here. Is nice here. No hellpigs...” he mumbled out, watching the sky swirl slowly.
That earned a grunt from Richtofen, the Nazi not paying Nikolai any mind as he assessed everything.
Takeo stood up cautiously, looking around curiously, noting the beautiful baby blue sky and buildings. “Do you believe there are people nearby? I can sense a presence.” Takeo commented, his voice lowering as he moved cautiously, fingers trailing over the handle of his katana, thumb brushing against the silky handle. He didn't have a good feeling about any of this… where were the undead?
“It can be a possibility, Takeo… we should all keep our weapons ready just in case they're… not so friendly,” Richtofen replied, shifting his hold on his gun he had pulled out.
Everyone except Takeo seemed to tighten their grip on their guns, cocking them as they prepared for a battle that could happen. Takeo slipped his katana out of its sheath with a swish, moving to stand near the tall, lengthy German.
Nikolai, who had finally gotten up, the Russian speaking up, “should check houses for supplies. And more vodka,” he said, the large Russian standing near Dempsey, who scowled slightly at the strong smell of vodka and vomit on Nikolai.
Dempsey scoffed, but agreed. “Yeah, we’re runnin’ out of ammo and food. I only have 2 mags left and, well, we’re in some place that probably has something other than canned beans..” he mumbled out the last part, scowling at the thought of having to eat another can of beans.
Richtofen stood there, thoughtful for a second before giving a curt nod. “Ja, you do have a point, Demshey, but I doubt there's much ammo lying around in these houses,” he said, starting to walk over to one of the buildings, taking note of the concrete structure, the subtle cracks in the white paint.
“Nikolai also ran out of ammo,” Nik commented, glancing around.
Takeo followed Richtofen, katana drawn close to his body, ready for a fight. Dempsey and Nikolai trailed after the two as they went to the back door. Richtofen wiggled the handle, finding it unlocked, he opened it slowly, rifle drawn and at the ready.
The group slowly trailed in, looking around cautiously, each taking a different room in the house.
Richtofen took the living room and kitchen, while Takeo had taken the upstairs.
Nikolai and Dempsey both took the bedrooms and bathrooms, or any rooms that were left.
Richtofen moved slowly through the room, looking around.
A brown couch and armchair a few inches from the wall on the left, a small coffee table a few inches in front of it, and a flatscreen TV on a stand on the right side against the wall. The room was a beige color. Light streamed through the window, bathing the room in a golden glow. He slowly made his way to the middle, looking at the photos hanging on the wall, seeing a white man wearing a hat with the British flag on the front of it. “How cliché..” he grumbled out. They must be in the United Kingdom, he had to assume.
After looking around a bit more, he went and checked the kitchen, finding nothing out of the ordinary, he began to browse through the panty.
Dempsey and Nikolai made their way down a short hallway, opening and peaking into each room they came up in, which was 2 on one side and 1 on the other side, a broom closet, bathroom, and bedroom, each having that same boring beige color, but the bathroom having light blue walls that complemented the off-white tiles and the porcelain sink.
Dempsey explored the bedroom, going through the nightstand, trying to find anything of use, but, sadly, found nothing.
The bedroom was large, a king-size bed in the middle pushed back against a wall, dark silk covers, corners having been folded with military precision. A dresser was pushed into the corner, a bunch of products on it, hair creams, hand creams… a TV was mounted in front of the bed on the wall.
Nikolai, on the other hand, had looked around in the closet, going through the shelves. He knocked a broom over, swearing quietly to himself. He continued to look around more, pushing some stuff off the shelf before he saw a bottle of vodka! He cheered, taking the bottle off the shelf, examining it. Though it was a different kind than he liked, he'll still drink it!
Takeo walked cautiously up the stairs, zori sandals clicking softly on the wooden stairs, katana drawn and at the ready. He stepped onto the wooden floor, taking note of the short passage down to a door. He walked down cautiously, right hand carefully opening the door, quickly pushing it open before taking a step back, sword ready.
The room was empty; the only thing in it was a king-size mattress, a dresser pressed against a wall, just below a window, and a nightstand right next to the bed. He crept in, cautiously looking around. He glanced around curiously, looking at the TV. Quite a large… device. He looked away, lowering his sword as he glanced at the bed, slowly running his hand over the fabric, the rough pads of his finger catching on the fabric before receding back to his side.
Once he was sure no one was here, he slid his sword back into its sheath with careful precision, making his way out of the room.
.
.
The group met up in the living room, having raided the kitchen for food and definitely emptied out most of the cabinets in there... Nikolai laid out in an armchair, drinking the vodka he had found, the bottle clenched tightly in his hand. Dempsey sat on the couch, arms crossed over his chest as he watched the Nazi shuffle around now and then. Richtofen stood near the coffee table, back facing the group as he was mumbling to himself, one hand on his hip and the other rubbing his forehead as he tried to figure out how they were gonna get out of this timeline.
Takeo sat on the floor, legs crossed as he meditated, his katana laid out in front of him. None of them had anything to do, and this was a safe house for them now, a place where they could figure everything out.
It was quiet, the only sound being the Germans incessant mumbling, but despite the talking the moment of peace was nice, just a tad bit unnerving, everyone not able to fully relax, but they enjoyed it as best they could.

SLAM!
The crew perked up, everyone grabbing their weapons and facing the door(Nikolai being much slower, vodka in one hand and a gun in his other). They all kept their guns trained on the door, ready for hellpigs to break through or someone to burst in trying to shoot them, but for a moment no one entered. Takeo moved closer, sword clenched tightly in his grip as he waited for something to happen, focused intently on the door.
Suddenly, two men in military gear burst in, rifles raised toward Takeo and the rest. Takeo pulled his katana back to swing, but suddenly got grabbed around the chest, armor clinking as a soldier grabbed him. When did they get in? He didn't hear them enter- he twisted around, swinging at the soldier as best as he could, nicking the soldier's chin, earning a gasp from him.
From what Takeo could see, Richtofen had been restrained by one soldier with mutton chops the German saying profanities toward the man, Dempsey was able to shoot a few bullets before he got shot in the thigh and knocked down by a dark-skinned male, also shouting profanities at the man as his blood soaked into the floor under him, and Nikolai pinned down by a large burly man in a skull mask, who was struggling a bit against the Russian to keep him down, who seemed more annoyed about his vodka being spilled then anything, his gun having been thrown across the room, the glass of the bottle shattered on the floor.
They survived a zombie apocalypse but can't fend off normal human beings?
Takeo internally sighed. It has been quite a while since they've seen living people, but they spar together just to not get rusty!
Takeo felt his right arm be grabbed as the man with a mohawk tried to disarm him, but Takeo fought back, attempting to thrust his sword and spear the man through the stomach, but it was countered by a sharp jab to Takeo's stomach, the armor taking most of the blow but it was enough to knock the wind out of him. Takeo fumbled with his katana, grip tightening as he attempted to slash the man's neck, but got shoved to the floor roughly, sword clattering away as his head hit the wooden floor, but he didn't stop struggling.
He was a warrior! A faithful samurai! He cannot be taken down by some soldier with such a horrendous haircut!
Takeo attempted to grab his sword, attempting to kick the soldier off, but got his arm twisted behind his back roughly, shoved forcefully onto his stomach and restrained. He squirmed, arms flexing in the restraints as Takeo's lips parted to say something, but before he could get any words out the butt of a gun was bashed into the back of his head, knocking Takeo out cold.
I AM PISSED OFF !!! NEVER LET THE DUFFER BROTHERS WRITE AGAIN!!! I AM DEADASS SERIOUS CUZ WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ENDING?! WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THE FANS WATCHING THE SHOW JUST FOR IT TO END WITH PLOT HOLES ???!!!
LIKE WOW THESE MFS REALLY PLAYED IT SAFE AND GAVE THE REAL FANS OF THIS SHOW NOTHING IN RETURN AFTER WAITING 3 FUCKING YEARS JUST FOR CHARACTER ARC ASSASSINATIONS, TOO MUCH CGI/ GREEN SCREEN LIKE A DAMN MARVEL MOVIE AND PLOT HOLES THAT NEVER MADE SENSE THEN THE CHERRY ON TOP IT FELT LIKE CHATGPT WAS HEAVILY USED FOR THE SCRIPT SINCE THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN CERTAIN CHARACTERS FELL FLAT AND EMOTIONLESS !!
the fact that the fight with vecna could have been so good IF ONLY vecna had hurt one of the three people will loved most (joyce, jonathan, or mike) but more specifically mike because hurting him would have meant that both eleven's and will's powers would have been enhanced by their anger and pain
but whatever i guess, it's a shame that the final battle was written by brainless beings
