JARDIN CARRE DE BAUDOUIN
by Popay
Built in the 18th century and acquired in 1770 by Nicolas Carré de Baudouin, the pavilion on Paris's Rue de Ménilmontant now serves as an exposition hall dedicated to arts and culture. Beside the pavilion the almost 20,000 square foot Jardin Carré de Baudouin opened for the first time to the public in 2007 and the exterior wall now serves as an enormous canvas for a rotating display of urban art. In February, 2019 Juan-Pablo De Ayguavives, aka Popay, made this contribution to the garden's roadside gallery. Born in Spain but now living in Paris, graffiti pioneer Popay began painting in the 1980s and was one of Europe's first artists to begin transforming the genre with with "picaresque characters, prolific landscapes and feverish Freestyles, lyrical and organic abstractions of great strength, and a real chromatic variety." @popay_de_ayguavives/
