Enjoy this recipe for festive firework popcorn on July 4th! This snack is the ideal way to enjoy the vibrant colors and sweet flavors of fireworks as they light up the night sky.
Ingredients: 1/2 cup popcorn kernels. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. 1/4 cup unsalted butter. 1/4 cup granulated sugar. 1/4 cup light corn syrup. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1/4 teaspoon baking soda. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Red and blue food coloring.
Instructions: Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the popcorn kernels and cover with a lid, shaking occasionally until all kernels are popped. Transfer the popcorn to a large bowl, removing any unpopped kernels. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the sugar, corn syrup, and salt, and bring to a boil. Boil for 4 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat and stir in the baking soda and vanilla extract quickly. Divide the mixture into two bowls and add red food coloring to one bowl and blue to the other. Drizzle the colored caramel over the popcorn in the bowl, gently tossing to coat evenly. Spread the popcorn onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool and set. Once cooled, break apart any large clusters. Serve and enjoy your firework-inspired popcorn!
