While that's one theory, I think that the White Sox, as true arbiters of keeping the Faith (along with the Red Sox, Eagles, Cubs, and Mets), recognize Pope Joan, which is progressive of them, if not the most historically accurate according to modern scholarship (definitely made up by one dude and then picked up by other people and embroidered because that's what people have always done and will always do).
It's also possible the White Sox support the theory of the Jewish pope, Pope Andreas.
