I've always loved having a front porch. One of the 1st things my husband & I did when we bought our 1st home was hang a wooden swing on the porch. When we moved to our 2nd home, initially we placed rocking chairs on the porch. But with rain and humidity, they didn't hold up being in contact with the slab. Nothing like a good ole wooden swing. I love to sit outside both during the daytime to talk on the phone, read, watch the butterflies in my garden, during a summer rain to smell the fresh smell of everything washed anew (bye bye pollen 🤣) and to watch the moon & stars before going to sleep at night. . With our "new normal," porches have become even more beneficial than we ever realized before. I know my neighbors and I have left treats or ingredients needed for recipes on one another's porches. My daughter has picked up orders from people who are self employed from home & left the item for her on their porch. Depending on how close your houses are or designed, you may be able to sit on your porch & talk to your neighbor face to face safely from a distance. .
