The night was quiet. Even though he hated the deputy, Shane had picked a relatively safe place to wait for the help he was so confident in showing up. Daryl had his doubts, but Merle had been right when he convinced him a group would ensure survival as opposed to just the two of them. And the quarry was pretty much unaffected by the outbreak. Plus the overflow from the nearby river had filled it with water and fish to live off of and Daryl’s hunting brought in even more.
So for now it worked.
As he sat on the rock overhang, smoking a cigarette, he couldn’t help but wonder just how long this would go on. His thoughts were a rioted however when he hear footsteps nearing him. Shortly after, a pair of arms draped themselves around his shoulders. His body tensed as he slid from underneath them and stood, turning to face whoever had snuck up on him.
“Tha Hell’s wrong with ya girl?” he half shouted, half whispered when he saw it was Hadley.
