土砂降りのつづくポートランド、めげない人々に励まされる。

Downpouring rain in Portland every day, undiscouraged people make my day.

いくらなんでもと思う程の雨が続いているポートランド。日が短いこともあって、日々の過ごし方、気持ちの盛り立て方が難しい。先週末は「ポートランド・バザー」に立ち寄る機会があった。ポートランドのハンドクラフトの雑貨やフード、お酒、ステーショナリーなどが集まる年末恒例のイベントだ。

かなりな悪天候の日曜なのに、一杯の人で賑わっている。ずーっとアパートにこもっているせいか、それが結構うれしかったりもした。今だに相当な雨でもポートランダーが傘をささないことも不思議なのだけど、冷たい土砂降りに全然めげない人々に元気づけられる。

しょうがないよね、今は。だって、少し先にはあの美しい春夏がやって来るのだから。そんなふうに、今日はちょっと思えたかも知れない。
