Eyes are the window to our soul.

On my left was a soul that had been here for 100 years and in front of me was a soul that's been here merely a couple of years. While I was framing the graceful old lady this little one sneaked close to me intrigued by my camera. As they say 'eyes are the window to the soul', his eyes had curiosity and stillness at the same time with the depth that only an old soul posses. Playing with the pigeons, running after them, making them fly and once in a while drop by close to me staring right into the camera to figure out what on earth is this, is what continued for almost ten minutes. Every time he used to come to me I clicked a picture of his and showed it to him, he was amused and perplexed to find himself at two places. And right after seeing his picture he used to take a step back and just stare at the camera , at one such moment I got this shot. Love his eyes and the expression. Some of the most moving portraits are simple with a deep underlying story, this one again has many lifetimes in one. My exploration of the human stories on the streets of Saigon continues to be an amazing experience. Portraits in 35mm are different.

On the main road in the old town of Luang Prabang. I saw her near a shop walking slowly, stopping occasionally, clearing her eyes, running her hand on her hair and repeating all of this again. All of this was being curiously watched by the puppets hanging close by. Portrait stories always fascinate me.
