01. Donegal, Ireland
Our first night away from the house and Luca is 2 1/2 months old. It is Easter and we are heading to Port Salon in Donegal for the Easter break with a group of friends. How does such a small person have so much stuff! We had rented a house overlooking the beach to try and make it as easy as possible.
How to sterilise bottles? Will he sleep? Have we got enough feeds? What if he is unwell?…oh the worries! But guess what we survived! If the first trip taught us anything is to be prepared and we learnt we didn't use half the things we bought and just go for it! Feds and sterilisation was my biggest concern. We bough the microwaveable bags to use on this trip…we haven't used them since! They did the job but would keep splitting we had since started using the cold water Milton sterilisation tablets on subsequent trips and find these a better solution (much cheaper too!)
As we knew we would be travelling a lot! We got a Koo-di bubble cot which is very light and easy to transport…Luca loves it, defiantly a great purchase!
Being Ireland at Easter of course the weather was against us, we attempted a walk along the beach but it was bloody freezing and Luca did not cope with the wind and I am sure his screams where heard back home! Let's just say it was a quiet few days mostly spent in doors!
As many parents will sympathise our lives at this point still revolve on 4 hour cycle and as good as a baby Luca is it still can be touch and go when we got out for meals but being in a large group with other children we took the plunge and ventured out to the Tap Room at the gorgeous Rathmullan House…it was amazing! Oh the pizza dough…
It was a relaxed few days with good friends and a successful start to Luca’s travelling adventures…next stop Oxford!
