Alisa I Want To Be A Prostitute 7″ (1982)
Early Eighties Los Angeles Latinx punk released just after a time other like-minded and just-as-welcomed bands such as X, The Germs, The Bags, and many more established themselves. “I Want To Be A Prostitute” is Alisa Alvarez’ (Wood) first hit reaching #7 on Los Angeles’ KROQ and she took it from there. KROQ’s Rodney Bingenheimer featured her for one of his assembled compilations for the Posh Boy label and she also showed up on some of the Ear Magic label’s Radio Tokyo Tapes. Song titles such as the lead track, “I Love An Ape”, and “Animals Get Used For Meat” shows she’s got a sense of humor, enough to make a story that captures interest. “I Want To Be A Prostitute” is the gem on this 7″, in which a young girl gives up the droll high-school life for a career in selling herself, living the all-too-true gauntlet of attention, drugs, assault, and robbery. Flip to the B-sdie for something a little more ridiculous as Alisa gets amorous and climactically walloped on “I Love An Ape”.
With only one original pressing and no re-issues, you won’t get away cheap without this 7″.
"Hey, gorgeous, I know you can't answer and you'll listen to this recorded message, the hell knows when, but I needed to let you know that I love you and I miss you so much...please be safe and come back to me soon, I have to ask you something that can't wait anymore. I'm yours and I'll always be. I'm your Bit of Rough, and I simply can't exist without my Posh Boy. I love you. I love you."
