Look at Me

Broad shoulders maintained their poise as the septarian kept his back to the area in which the magical walls contained her. A small sound left the queen's mouth; something akin to a desperate sadness at the unmoved state of her husband.
"...Toffee?"
The word was small, barely above a childlike whisper from where Moon stood at the closest corner of the cage to him. Legs and arms ached their protest at the lack of rest they received. The slim form of the queen became prone to pacing, standing stock still, and tearing all who entered the chamber apart. Food remained untouched. She did not sit. She did not sleep.
An inky palm touched upon the panelling of the cell in a silent plea for his attention.
"...Please." Words strained for his ears in a hoarse whimper. Outbursts and screams stripped Moon's voice away into that which sounded as if it were perpetually fragmented and on the verge of tears.
"...I made a terrible mistake. I don't know what's going on...and I know you must have a good cause for this...And maybe you can't tell me. Which--....which is fine. But if I can't tell you what I did...we can't fix it."
The monster's head remained tilted down towards some large volumes. A respectful pause lingered.
"...I don't want to make things worse. I'm not asking you to come in here...or let me out...but please just hear me... I don't know how much longer I can take this...This magic-- it isn't controlled. It's here...In this castle. I'm worried about Star. I don't want this to get hold of our little girl."
Slowly, Moon's hand traced a careful line down the panel of glass. The movement was sombre as if resigning itself to a quiet defeat as it moved perfectly in line with the body of the septarian whom she sought to catch the attention of.
".......Toffee?"
