My answer for @rosartemis and anon lmao

I said that Dream talking about not wanting to play in MCC because of Build Mart was scummy primarily because I feel like it was something that should’ve been kept between the ccs off-stream. There’s a difference between telling the audience “I don’t want to play if build mart’s in the next MCC” and “I didn’t join because I wasn’t having as much fun”. It’s less the message I found scummy and more the fact he made it public.

You could blame his fanbase for taking things too far, but I view it as more a “I can’t control others but I can control myself” situation because Dream knows that his fans want him to play in MCC. By saying that, it sort-of gives an incentive for them to say a lot of things about wanting to getting rid of Build Mart, which in turn puts pressure on Noxcrew to remove/replace the game. If he instead chose to just sit out the MCC and give the latter sentence as an explanation, then people can say “fair” because why play if you’re not having as much fun? It puts less blame on the competition, and more on personal preference.

I think it’s also a mindset thing because they’re going into it as “I won’t enjoy this game because we’re not good at it” which in turn lowers morale before the game’s even started. It’s so much harder to turn things around if you’re already in a bad mood, instead of going in with no expectations and just aiming to do as well as you can. And as the Orange Ocelots and Hbomb said, morale helps teams do better, that’s why the “pick your worst games first so you can finish strong at the end” strat works in theory, but not really in practise. I get that they don’t like the game, but they shouldn’t let one ten minute game in a ~3 hour event consisting of eight (technically nine) games ruin the event for them, imo.

Ant-sult to Injury

The group, all soaked to the bone, used Sadie’s magical light source to search for a way back up. The walls of the cave were too steep and smooth to be climbable and the edge of the hole was too unstable as well. With a bit more searching they were able to discover that the rocks they were using as a beach were in fact part of an earlier cave in. With a bit of rock shifting they were able to find what seemed like a tunnel just large enough for them to crawl through on their bellies. Donar and Kireen were the most nervous as their bulk could disrupt the structure and send the rest of the rock down to fill in the gaps they were occupying but Sadie was already sick of being wet and cold underground so she dove into the tunnel head first already believing this was a sure way out. With much eye-rolling the other adventurers followed. As luck would have it, Sadie ended up regretting going first because her sleeve caught on a stray root. She thought nothing of it as she pulled her arm free, ripping her shirt in the process but then she started to feel miniscule feet crawling all over her. Thousands of tiny red ants were dislodged when she pulled herself free of the root. They started crawling across her face, up her pant legs, across her arms. She was trapped in a tiny space with barely enough room to lift her head and the never ending waves of ants sent her over the edge. She began to scream at the top of her lungs. K’lai’a’la had gone right after her, having been comforted by Sadie back near the water, and the small elf tried to help her but it was single file and there was not much she could do to get the ants off her friend. So Sadie crawled like a demon baby from hell and eventually the passage opened up into a wider tunnel. Sadie was able to get to her feet and despite the combined voices of her compatriots all telling her to stop, Sadie blindly ran down the dark tunnel that ever so slowly began sloping downward.
