To My Darling Husband
In a messy script, a letter is delivered. The contents are written in a scrawl that starts out neat, but quickly turns untidy. There’s two sheets of paper, folded up; when unfurled, a cute clear packet falls out. In it: glitter, shiny stars, hearts; reflective ornamentation. Little hearts are drawn on the corners in red sharpie.
The letter's contents are read quietly, a smile on the reader's face as he recognizes his wife's writing.
To my darling husband,
I got your letter. I haven't done one of these in so long, I'm honestly not sure where to begin again. ^^;
I love you. I love you sooooo much! I know I've been saying that a lot lately this year, but that's because it's true. I really do. I love you. Beyond the stars in the sky, the whispers in the wind, everything in this whole world, it is you I love the most. I care for you; I love you. I'm not gonna say I need you – though I feel like I do – because we both know that I've grown and matured as a person into being able to take care of myself, but I want you. I do want you to help me pick myself back up, to help me when the load's too heavy, to love and care for me when I cannot. And you provide that, in spades that seem never-ending. I only wish that my feelings felt as mountainous as yours.
But the feelings have never faded. That's one thing we can count on. I always feared they would, for me. That maybe I might find myself out of love as quickly as I stumbled into it. That maybe my love wasn't enough for you, once I realized why it felt so different from yours. I mean, I knew it wasn't gonna be the case. It had never been an issue before; and the love and commitment to each other remained the same as it had been before; why would that change it? You loved and accepted me when I finally worked up the heart to tell you; and it made it more special than the time I learned about asexuality, shouting in the other room and excitedly telling you about it.
You've always been there for me. You've always made me feel special, loved, accepted, regardless of how much I was always afraid to be my true self around you. And when I finally relaxed, trusted you... Man, I wish I had done it so much sooner! I feel so bad for all the time lost, but I know that we have the rest of our lives for me to make it up to you. You're always there to guide me, protect me, to help me understand things that I didn't know before.
I love you so much. I just needed to say that again before I continued. (Why did you marry a writer? Oh, but you knew what you were getting into after the first few letters were exchanged. I bet you still read some of them when I'm not around; and laugh with the wisdom of an adult at our young feelings, the hyperbolic statements we made, and how much we felt we needed to prove to one another. I know now that we don't need to prove anything to one another, but that still doesn't mean I won't write you a novel out of my feelings. :P )
Right. Where was I?
Oh! I hope you know that I'm keeping your letter next to me, while I write this. You know how off-topic I can be. I wanna make sure that I return every sentiment, with interest.
Of course, I say that, and then I can't help but bury my head in my hands, struck down, incapable of words as you've stolen them all away from me. I wonder how you'll return them to me next... Ah, but such teasing doesn't carry well over a letter, does it? I'll just make sure to get them back the next time I see you after this.
I'll always be willing to stand beside you; let's show each other all the ways we love each other.
(That was so hard to write.)
(But you know what I mean)
I know you mean it when you say that you'd start from the beginning. Even beside the silliness that you show me, in the way we tease and talk to each other, I know that you're a pretty serious guy when it comes down to it. I know you're serious about your feelings. (And I'm honestly expecting this to happen one of these years. I just don't know which one yet. Which anniversary. Don't think I'm not onto you, loverboy. One of those is going to be that kind of cheesy thing, and don't you dare say that I gave you the idea. We both know you're sappier than me when it's all said and done.)
Nevertheless, you always find some way to keep me on my toes. I suppose you'd have to, with how quick I am to catch onto something. You're pretty smart; maybe it's a bad comparison, but it's like playing chess; trying to figure out what I'm not going to catch onto. Ah, that doesn't sound very romantic, does it?
I suppose I'm running out of things to say now, so I guess I'll close out. Like I said, I'll have to get those words back somehow...
I love you.
They say that letters carry the sender's feelings. I know that to be true, because of how much love you've put into yours. Because of how strong they are. I only hope that my letter feels the same way to you.
Our love is here to stay.
Eternally yours,
Your wife, Sarah
On the back of the second sheet, he notices that there is more writing still, in a much larger scrawl, as a heart that covers the entire page encircles it.
P.S. I got the glitter packet idea from a friend. Something to remind you of me, since you know how much I love it. I love you. <3
In smaller writing below that:
P.P.S. Did you marry a writer just so you could watch them write things that would then make them flustered? Because I swear. Sometimes... It feels like you do these things on purpose. >:C I bet you're having a good laugh right now... Well, I change my mind! I hope the glitter makes for a good revenge!
….I still love you. <3 See you soon!
He smiles. The letter makes him emotional, touched by the words of his wife. Their personality, their voice; their energy, their vibrancy. The things that drew him in, things that only served to further the love he had for his wife.
The packet of glitter is put into his jacket; an adorable gift from them, he thinks. With care, he folds the letter back up, fitting his wife's words neatly back into the envelope. He quickly places it into an inner pocket, keeping the note close to his heart.
from this day onward, I’m officially a Eurovision blog writer
"Alright." Sparks fly out of the end of the soup fairy's wand as she gives it a solid *tap tap*.
Imagine for a moment...
Your character lies in bed, fully awake, staring at the ceiling. What or who is keeping them awake? Why?
Is it the sweltering summer heat? Is it a problem, or thoughts of sweet things? Is it that offhanded comment they made 5 years ago to the wrong person? Or, perhaps, it's that strange black figure crawling upside down along their ceiling?
Aww, thanks Soup! @drinkyoursoupbitch

I sighed as I stared at the ceiling. There were only so many times I could apply a cooling charm until they inevitably wore off and I got no sleep what so ever.
Hey Tumbls!
