I started 2019 off with the 19th installment of my ongoing Zuisha series- twenty fiber prints of work shot between September - December 31st, 2018.It was a good show- things came together alright, as usual. Lots of people came and it was good to catch up with old friends and make some new ones.
Even though the “point” is pictures, galleries are a place to interact with reality. Most visitors come to my shows with cameras and most talk about their cameras but what I’ve figured out about this is that people are hungry to speak about the stuff they like in person. It was nice to step back and see a bunch of total strangers engaged in lively, positive conversation together.
Shooting film and processing it myself, printing the negatives in the darkroom and hanging the work on a wall for a week all on my own dime/yen for no real reason– That’s the opposite of so much this age tries to sell us on. Maybe having disinterest in profitability or gain and a love of physical materials is in 2019 an act of subversion.
I don’t know anyone who’s satisfied with the internet, or digital lives anymore (were we ever?). The positives of digital connections lie in their practical usefulness of information-transmission. People knew about this show more from the social media posts I shared than the 900 postcards the gallery sent out. No question. It’s not life, it’s content. That sort of stuff is the nails that the Internet-Hammer is made for. But oh man are people tired of being hit with that hammer, over and over. And the hammer just keeps getting worse, or sharper, or duller, or whatever on terms us nails don’t determine. I guess we all could step aside because its arc isn’t nimble- there’s a lot more out there to do and see. But hey! You can find out some of those things to do and see via this screen you’re looking at right now. That’s the compromise. I don’t have any answers, just some words.
Eh, well, this is late 2019 Tumblr. No one’s going to read this, anyway...

Do you have any NSFW headcanons for ChuuAtsu?
Ah, not really. I’m pretty uncomfortable with NSFW stuff.
Hm… Though I can imagine that Atsushi one day feels ready, but Chuuya doesn’t notice and thinks the opposite, so he tries to control himself. But Atsushi isn’t that stupid, so he gets Chuuya very, very drunk. And Chuuya can’t control himself anymore. So they had sex.
But in the middle or after it, Chuuya breaks down because he realizes what he did.
You see, Anon? I’m pretty awkward, right? Sorry!
