Summary: After the ending of Darksiders 1, the Kingdom of Man has slowly been trying to take back their home through sabotage and guerilla tactics. Center stage is the Reader, who’s recently been taking care of an injured -and luckily unconscious- demon in the hopes pitting him against the remnants of the Destroyers army. A strategy which has been working out fine... so far.
It's been a week since you've started tending to your so-called patient. It wasn’t a particularly difficult endeavor, all things considered, as before you’d come across him, he’d managed to drag himself into a hole in the ground that you’d easily hidden with a few strategically placed piles of debris.
As for the patient himself?
Well, he was unconscious, so gold stars for good behavior all around! Now if only he were smaller so you could put actual bandages on his wounds.
Not that you actually had bandages and even if you did, you’d save them for your personal use or for a fellow human. You’d never waste proper medical supplies on a demon when you’ve already used an entire potion on him. As useless as it is for humans it sill could’ve been traded for something. Oh well.
All in all, coming across an injured phantom guard and nursing them back to health was just par for the course at this point in humanity’s reclamation of Earth. The planet was still very much infested with the Destroyer’s former lackeys, and the Horsemen could only do so much.
Fortunately, demons had a habit of turning on each other and forming rivaling factions the moment there was a power vacuum. A fact that you and your fellow humans took advantage of. Snatch up a commander here, patch up a soldier there, then let them loose to tear each other apart while you watch from the safety of a nearby Maker Tree.
It was honestly just your luck that after all the training and studying Fury and the Makers had put you through, you’d end up using sneaking and sabotage, coupled with field medicine.
‘So much for reclaiming your home through glorious combat.’
Then again, why waste the effort?
In any case, the phantom guard currently in your tender care has been part of a surprising addition to the power struggle. If the emblem so proudly displayed on the demon’s armor is to be believed, it seems that Samael was finally making his move against the remnants of the Destroyer’s army.
‘Why’ was still up for debate, but until there was more information, your current plan was to aid his forces in any way that would avoid attracting attention.
And on that note, it was time to leave before the phantom guard woke up!
