Drivers' Parade:

Q: What went well yesterday? We got into Q2, a good start, the first time this year. A lot of good things, and we should have been in Q3 realistically. I just didn't do the best lap, had a bit of traffic, but we could have been in there. I could have knocked George out, which would have been a good thing. Hopefully today we can make up for that.

Post-Race Show, with Pierre and Esteban:

Gasly: You were fucking fast today. Tennant: You guys battled hard this evening. Lando: A little bit, some good races. I think we had a little bit of the upper hand today, so I'm happy. Gasly: I thought you were gonna get Esteban. Lando: I was ahead onto the last lap, but he was so much quicker on the straight, he just completely gets ahead of me. Tennant (another last-lap drag race for Ocon, last year he lost out, this time he got it): Lando: He was a winner this time.

[Gasly leaves; Lando to "the hotter seat."]

Tennant (your summary of where you're at after that race?): We're in a similar place to before, honestly. [fireworks in the distance] Oh, not more fireworks, please. Boring. If we went back to Bahrain, we'd still be terrible. So we have to be honest with that.

[Ocon arrives; Tennant wipes the mic.] Ocon: Why? Lando: Gasly, Pierre touched it, you know he has COVID. [joke] But it was a good day for us. We went forward, caught cars we didn't expect to catch, like the Alpine. So a lot of positives, but we still know we have a lot of work to do.

Tennant (a bit longer before Australia this time): Not as much as… we need a couple of months, honestly, and we only have a couple of weeks, so we'll see what we can do. Tennant (maybe in time for Silverstone, in front of the home crowd): Yes, exactly. We'll win by then. [joke, needs to leave]

Ocon (why don't you want to stay with me, Lando?): Yeah! [on the last-lap fight] Ocon: I had a bit of practice from last year, but Lando was too fast in the end. Honestly, if it wasn't for this year's car I wouldn't have got him back, but you can follow so much easier now, so I used the DRS on the last lap and got him back. Lando: I know, it sucks, I hate the new rules. No, it's good, I think it was good for us. I heard about his race with Fernando earlier, and even the battle between Max and Charles, because of these new cars you can follow a lot closer, get into DRS, and when you pass it's also easier for the car to come back at you and have another go.

Tennant (the Turn 27 gamesmanship, everyone holding off so as not to pick up DRS): That's the racing part, it's not simply about who's ahead. Tennant (very gentlemanly, "after you, sir"): Exactly, you don't always want to be ahead sometimes. It's part of racing; it's not all about driving your car quick in Formula One, there's a lot more to it. And he got me today.

Tennant (you race again in ten days): Ocon: I don't think it's going to be the last time we race together. Lando: It depends. If we have a high-speed track like here, yes. If we go back to Bahrain again, no.

Tennant (only way is up, surely?): No, the only way is not up. For us it can also be down. I'd love to be positive, but with slow speed we're really bad, a long way off, even these guys, and Bahrain was evidence of that. But at a track like here, we can show more of the speed our car has in the medium and higher-speed corners, that's where we were strong today, where I could catch Esteban. If we have more slow-speed corners, I'd struggle a lot more. So the slow-speed tracks, we're going to struggle, we know that and expect it. But tracks like here, and maybe Australia because it's a bit more high-speed, maybe suit us a bit more this year. Tennant (maybe even Monza): No, there are a lot of slow-speed corners and straights, and we're not good in either. Ocon: Oh, that positive note! [laughs, pats Lando on the back] Lando: There'll be more positivity from this guy. Tennant: We like realism too, don't we?

I’ve just seen a video from post race interview (Ziggo Sport) in Bahrain 2021 with Fred Vasseur (which now I have the question how i’ve never seen it before????)

The question was, “What was Toto like as a roommate? Did you sleep together?” (¿Como era Toto cómo comapnẽro de habitación? Han dormido juntos?). WHAT FRED ANSWERED WAS, “Ask Cristian.” AND HE WAS LITERALLY DYING LAUGHING???

SPILL THE BEANS, FRED??? SHARING IS CARING??? WHAT HAPPENED WHAT DO YOU MEAN ASK CHRISTIAN WHY AND WHY NO ONE ASKED CHRISTIAN???????

Cele: no, no, good, it's uh the whole weekend we've been quite fast, I'm, I'm quite happy, especially after coming back which wasn't really easy

Int: we can see there's still some...

Cele: yes, yes and tomorrow will be difficult but well we will try to do the max

Int: I saw you like it, the feeling is always getting better

Cele: yes yes, no the feeling has always been good especially from half the season on and it keeps being good, so- thanks, thanks to the team who's giving me a great hand and- nothing. Let's hope to do good tomorrow

Chalres Interview post Race_ Japan 2025

Charles P4. Finished where you started. Was that pretty much the maximum. Where you quite pleased to keep George behind at the end?

Oh it was a very boring race for me. I mean the Maclaren were too fast in front and I was trying to manage the gap to George behind. He was a little bit faster at the end, I was a little bit faster in the middle part of the race, but ah- that’s the absolute best we could do and it’s a bit of a shame that there is not more in the car. Ah yeah, its uhm- happy in a way, because after a weekend like this, we have learned so much and on Friday I felt like I found a way to help me maximize the car more for the future, that’s good, but I am not happy that whenever we maximize our result, that means we are P4, that is the best result we can do. We got to work on that.

There was a lot of experimenting on Friday practice so where does that leave you for Bahrain next weekend and for the season. To get a read- handle on this car?

Ah yeah, I mean uh- for Bahrain we keep working in the direction that I have been working in, uh- on Friday. And uhh- see if that helps us but (shakes head) I think there is not much more performance in the car than what we are seeing now. We just need new parts and if we have them soon enough, I am sure that this is the only solution to our problems.
