So YellowAngriu uploaded the ending song to Episode 14, "Do it All Over Again" Which makes me... want to talk about PPT2 a bit more. Maybe just Episode 14, maybe the whole show.
Take a seat, this might be a long one.
I might be a bit over dramatic at some points, but screw it it's my post.
I think PPT2 is something special in OSC history. I genuinely don't think we'll get another show like this in a while. Like, with most object shows... While I do love the characters, I love them more as characters.
In PPT2, everyone in a way just feels so real. Like, you could believe a person like them can exist. Sure, the show starts off gimmick-y, and granted some characters still are, but with the recent episodes have been making everyone just feel so goddamn real.
Like, I'm gonna start off lighthearted and say that Plasma Ball & Knight Helmet's friendship is really sweet. Putting shipping aside, during their time together in the game let her find out how she can get him to cooperate in challenges. Overtime it went from being a teammates who tolerated each other to a genuine friendship. Hell, PB's helping KH be a better person.
Then there's Flashlight & Glass Shard's whole thing. She wanted attention from her BF at the time, but he was too focused on his phone. When Glass Shard got eliminated, he needed a lot of time to realize his mistakes. Meanwhile Flashlight also had time to realize that Glass Shard wasn't a good enough boyfriend to her. When she was eliminated and they met, Glass Shard didn't beg her to come back. He admits that he was a shitty boyfriend and that she deserves better.
I think... it's beautiful. That a show like Paper Puppets Take 2 can make their characters like... improve. They realize their mistakes, or they tone down their gimmicks.
But what I think that's just as good are that characters can be good as they are.. bad.
Not bad as in "They're bad people" or "They're bad characters" but "Oh my go why are you doing this nooooooooooooooo!!!!...."
This is the Gold Ingot stuff now.
I just... there's so much to unpack with him.
At the start of the show, he was a really shitty boss. Playing favorites and generally being a massive dickwad to Loaf. Who wanted to be nothing more than a helpful assistant. But Gold Ingot just kept ignoring Loaf and kept using Santa Hat.
Santa Hat and Loaf saw how badly Gold Ingot was treating them and decided that enough was enough.
What hurts, or at least what makes this show feel so real, is that Gold Ingot wants to fix things. He does want his relationship with Santa Hat & Loaf. He wants them to forgive him. But the thing is... They've moved on.
To Gold Ingot, you could just feel that he's not doing it because he cares about them, but because he wants to get rid of his guilty conscience.
Being the host of the show doesn't give you the right to be an absolute jackass to your co-hosts.
It's so hard to hate Gold Ingot because he just feels so real. That last episode (as of now, Episode 14) felt like something a real person would do. Like, it's believable to think that someone like him would go to their house to try and fix things, but in the end he just made things worse.
It's like... By the end of episode 14, Gold Ingot is finally truly reflecting on his actions. Before this you could sense that he felt like he drove them away because he was a bad boss, but his walk to the bus station really made him think about what he did to them.
PPT2 hurts so good because it's characters feel so real-
It's crazy to think that PPT2 almost became another run-of-the-mill sequel series if YellowAngriu decided to keep the show as just another shitpost. But instead they made something so special man. This is definitely an Object Show worth watching.
That's not even mentioning Journal starting off as a hero, but being too focused on his goal that he ultimately became a villain/antagonistic. Treasure Chest trying to bring Journal back to the challenge, but Journal deciding to leave the challenge. Hell, in this episode where Bottle cried because she regrets voting for Post-It Note, but Post-It not wanting to listen to her.
This shit feels so real man-
I know I say this a lot, but PPT2 is genuinely the best object show out there. It is legitimately peak fiction.
