Breaking down while singing "Space Age Bachelor Man" is very comical
Today I had my cast party for Anne of Green Gables and now I'm laying in bed depressed that it's over and missing everyone ✌️😚
I hate having friends who are friends with everyone. I have one in theater, my best friend. I’m not his best friend. And he’s friends with everyone, he knows everyone, everyone loves him. I’m glad he has that.
But he’s my only friend in the cast, and he when he goes to talk to his other friends, I’m left scrolling through Instagram.
I hate Instagram.
I hate sitting here at the cast party wishing I’d brought a book. I hate being alone when I’m surrounded by people.
There’s another girl in theater with the same name as me. It’s not a common name. I’ve only met two others with it. Everyone time someone says my name, I perk up. They’re always referring to her. Most of them don’t even know my name. I’m always shocked when someone does. I’ve been here twice as long her, but people know her twice as well.
It’s funny, really. My whole life I’ve been told to tone myself down, that I’m too loud, too obnoxious. I don’t usually listen, and yet I’m still stuck telling the same joke five times because no one heard me the first four.
I follow my friend around a lot because if I can’t talk to him, I don’t have anyone to talk too. He hates when I follow him. I think he thinks I’m too clingy. I don’t know for sure.
My friend almost left without saying goodbye. He walked right by me, I had to chase him down and only got to hug him from behind. I wanted a real hug. He gives good ones, but he always pulls away too quickly. He always had other people to hug. And he didn’t even think to say goodbye to me.
My best friend.
Though I know I’m not his.
When you’re alone at a party you’re practically invisible. People love asking me if I’m okay when I actually am. No one asks when I’m stuck scrolling Instagram at a party. No one asks when I want them too.
Not until I get in the car. My mom noticed immediately. Asked if I was okay, kept making comments about post-show depression, was worried I was sick. The one person I didn’t want to notice. I can’t talk to my mom. She tries to solve everything, and then is frustrated when I don’t want a solution. And then we argue. We can’t have a conversation without arguing anymore. I told her I was just tired from tech week. It’s half-true at least.
twelfth night was an amazing production
it started with freaking out about being cast as a lead role and ended with tears of never playing the role again
i'm so glad i joined the show and i had so much fun
I don’t know about everyone else, but I’m definitely in the middle of Post-Show Depression, even though HSMTMTS was just a show I watched, not one I actually performed in! I made this video with friends and thought I’d share with my HSMTMTS peeps, since you may recognize many of the symptoms that you’re currently going through! :D
My friends, watching me shove potato chips into my mouth: What are you doing?!
Me, in a very matter-of-factly way: Vodka is made out of potatoes. So are these chips. Therefore, if I eat enough of them, I will become drunk and no long have to deal with the sorrows of my life.
My friends, now horrified: Who has hurt you?
Me, hugging my bag of potato chips to my heart: *whispers* I didn’t want the show to end.
That post-show depression hits hard, my dudes.
y’all I just realized that this show is probably gonna have the worst post-show depression I’ve had to deal with so far and just fuck
