Nostalghia
This movie is one of Tarkovsky’s most personal pictures. It’s very melancholic, slow, hypnotic, like a dream. A russian poet called Andrei visits a small town in Italy with his translator - who looks like Venus from Botticcelli’s painting - to do a research for a long dead russian composer who spent his last years there. There he meets Domenico, the local “lunatic” and their lives become intertwined. The film goes into deep philosophical questions about art, life, death and love. There are lots of long takes and dream sequences in the film - Tarkovsky’s trademarks among others. Give it time.

STALKER (cyrillic version)
About a year ago I made the first step to get familiar with the work of one of the greatest filmmakers of all time: Andrei Tarkovsky. His films came up in many articles and interviews as a crucial reference point. I was intrigued but still didn't commit myself on watching his movies. It may have been probably because of the fact that I like to watch films in their original language and knowing that most of Tarkovsky's films are in russian, didn't help me at all. But one day I stepped over my burden and started to watch the movie I heard about the most: STALKER.
STALKER is a film based on the sci-fi book by Arkadiy and Boris Strugackiy titled "Roadside picknick". Ever since the release of the movie in 1979 people are debating about it's message, theme, plot with no apparent concensus. As I interpret it the film is about faith, humanity, morality, our place on Earth and in the Universe told by the journey of the 3 main characters.
- The Zone is a very complex maze of traps - tells the Stalker at one point, which gave the final push for the idea of this poster. If you’re smart enough you can go through the maze to the center :)

Andrei Rublev
This monumental historic tableau by Tarkovsky of a 15th century russian icon painter made a very big impact on me when I first saw it. I had to rewatch it several times to indulge in the fantastically choreographed scenes and a story about an artist/monk called Andrei Rublev who questions his faith and his art. I was very afraid first because it’s black and whit, and in russian but in the end it jumped to my “All-time favorite movies” list. It was a delight to see that amidst all that suffering 15th century russians had to endure, they could still bring marvellous art to life. I strongly recommend it to everyone to watch this cinematic masterpiece!
