Nostalghia
This movie is one of Tarkovsky’s most personal pictures. It’s very melancholic, slow, hypnotic, like a dream. A russian poet called Andrei visits a small town in Italy with his translator - who looks like Venus from Botticcelli’s painting - to do a research for a long dead russian composer who spent his last years there. There he meets Domenico, the local “lunatic” and their lives become intertwined. The film goes into deep philosophical questions about art, life, death and love. There are lots of long takes and dream sequences in the film - Tarkovsky’s trademarks among others. Give it time.

Andrei Rublev
This monumental historic tableau by Tarkovsky of a 15th century russian icon painter made a very big impact on me when I first saw it. I had to rewatch it several times to indulge in the fantastically choreographed scenes and a story about an artist/monk called Andrei Rublev who questions his faith and his art. I was very afraid first because it’s black and whit, and in russian but in the end it jumped to my “All-time favorite movies” list. It was a delight to see that amidst all that suffering 15th century russians had to endure, they could still bring marvellous art to life. I strongly recommend it to everyone to watch this cinematic masterpiece!

There’s also a latin letter version available on Redbubble.
STALKER (latin version)
Here’s the other version for yesterday’s poster, with a different hue and latin characters. Andrei Tarkovsky: STALKER

STALKER (cyrillic version)
About a year ago I made the first step to get familiar with the work of one of the greatest filmmakers of all time: Andrei Tarkovsky. His films came up in many articles and interviews as a crucial reference point. I was intrigued but still didn't commit myself on watching his movies. It may have been probably because of the fact that I like to watch films in their original language and knowing that most of Tarkovsky's films are in russian, didn't help me at all. But one day I stepped over my burden and started to watch the movie I heard about the most: STALKER.
STALKER is a film based on the sci-fi book by Arkadiy and Boris Strugackiy titled "Roadside picknick". Ever since the release of the movie in 1979 people are debating about it's message, theme, plot with no apparent concensus. As I interpret it the film is about faith, humanity, morality, our place on Earth and in the Universe told by the journey of the 3 main characters.
- The Zone is a very complex maze of traps - tells the Stalker at one point, which gave the final push for the idea of this poster. If you’re smart enough you can go through the maze to the center :)

2001: A Space Odyssey
If someone asked me about my favorite movie, I would tell that without doubt Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) was my top choice. I’ve seen this movie many times in 3 different languages, and I’m proud to have shown it to several people who didn’t know it. I could go on and on for hours why it’s on the top of my list but this is not the right place for it.
I’ve been thinking for years how I could honor Kubrick’s work and a poster looked more and more plausible, what a surprise :) So after some thinking I collected some of the most iconic stills from the movie and merged them into one piece. The proportions of the poster follow the proportions of the Monolith in the movie.
This is my birthday gift to the followers of Posterology, as I just turned one year older. Also this is the first movie poster here and I plan to upload more from time to time.

Posterology turned 3 today!
Hello folks! It is incredible but this blog, which started out partly because I was bored by my daily job, turned 3 years old today! My day job has changed since then but Posterology stayed, thanks to YOU!
Six day ago the 15.500th person started to follow Posterology, which is simply awesome! Usually once or twice every week I look at some of my new followers tumblrs, looking for things that inspire me and I always find some great content. So if you see that a tumblr called ‘zsutti50′ likes your stuff, that’s me in disguise.
Also, this is my 222th post on this blog, which is a nice number as well, so I think this is a great opportunity to summarize these 3 years, and reflect on a few things:
Breaking Bad: 62 posters. It all started with this show. Mind = blown. Most of you started following me because of these pieces and because you love Breaking Bad just like I do. This caused such a big hype that I started to make posters for other shows I liked to watch. 6 posters were later revisited and corrected, 1 of them because I wasn’t entirely pleased with it, 5 of them because of a promised deal by Sony Pictures Inc., but then they fucked me over big time. Despite the deal never came to life, the posters remained because they were changed to be better.
Hannibal: 39 posters. Oh boy, I loved this show so much! A little gore here, lots of blood there and don’t forget those incredible dishes and impeccable photography! It even inspired me to make good looking food at home! Special thanks to Mads Mikkelsen for his portrayal of Hannibal. I can’t help but I love to hate him!
True Detective: 8 posters. Great cast and great storytelling. Period. Got me on the hook at the first episode which is rare. Although many people despise the second season, I don’t. I think it’s quite underrated. I’m even planning to make posters for that season as well, when I will have the spare time for it.
Game of Thrones: 10 posters. I love the tv show and I even started to read the books, which are awesome, but I have to be honest to you and myself: these posters are shite. I mean there are some elements on certain pieces that I like but overall they are a piece of crap. I haven’t spent enough time to come up with a decent concept for this series. I’m really sorry for that! I have seriously considered removing them but I changed my mind for now. Still, I may create this entire poster series from scratch again, after I read the books and watched the (finished) tv show.
House of Cards: 52 posters so far. Netflix got me on the hook with the casting of Kevin Spacey as a villain POTUS. Also this was the first time when I put the episode quotes into the focus. Fun fact 1: the dark background with the rough stone texture is actually a gravestone photographed by me. Fun fact 2: the textures on the quotes are actually broken marble stone plates photographed in the subways of Budapest, Hungary - where I live. Well, I thought that since an important character dies in a subway in the series, this would be my memorial, and I basically dedicate all the crumbling cracks for that character. (You know who, right?)
Mr. Robot: 22 posters so far. It was the first time when I dumped the complete vector drawing style I did before. I wanted something completely different, something that is resonates with the topic and Elliot’s complicated mind. Therefore I downloaded the episodes via torrent, then I projected and watched them on a small movie screen at home. I took some photos of the characters or events I wanted to depict on a poster. I collected the quotes I liked and then I converted a chosen quote for each poster into binary code. Then I made a vector background of these codes and in each code the relevant quote is embedded with latin characters. These backgrounds serve as a mask for the photos I made. There you go: illegally-downloaded-meta-digital-graphic-posters.
That’s 193 posters. The one with the most notes is Felina for Braking Bad with 2353 notes.
Also I want to give kudos to two people/blogs here on tumblr: first is Shayne from Heisenbergchronicles, who reblogged all my Breaking Bad posters and made the first interview with me, which resulted in that big hype mentioned before. I’ll never forget it! Second is artboost, who is a longtime follower and liked nearly all of my posters, very often right after they were uploaded. I guess he/she never sleeps.
Part of the celebration is that I uploaded a True Detective panorama format poster on Redbubble, involving all posters for the first episode, sans quotes. I have plans to create more stuff like this (like full collections of all posters in one piece). I also have plans to extend this project to (my favorite) movies and create some new, more detailed artworks.
Last but not least I have to thank for one more person, who was there from the beginning, reviewed my works unbiased, tolerated all that time that I’ve spent with the posters instead of her, and supported my pursuit. Without her a lot of the stuff here would look less good: my fiancé Blanka. Yes, that means we are getting married next year and we are very excited!
We would really-really appreciate your support, if you shared or purchased any kind of merchandise from my stores on Redbubble, Society6 and RageOn. If something is missing just drop me a line and I will create it as soon as possible. We will need every cent to make this wedding happen...
Have a great day, all of you!
