Why do all seats I sit in (airplane, bus, car, etc.) cause me to round my shoulders when I sit up straight in it, when rounding of the shoulders is improper posture?

If you look at a public seat, most of them are sort of concave and cause you to round your shoulders forward. It frustrates me when I try to practice good posture and I'm on a plane for 5 hours hunched forward. Why is this such a common thing when it's clearly not good for the human body?

LPT: Improve your posture while standing or walking.
LPT: Improve your posture while standing or walking.
Bring your shoulders back. Easy, right? Well maybe for about 15 seconds, you forget about and you're right back to being slumped over. Instead, focus on your hands. A lot more of your brain is dedicated to what your hands are doing, than what your shoulders are doing. When standing, have your palms face your sides along your pants out seam instead of behind you. When you walk, point your thumb forward and have your finger tips scrape your hips as opposed to thumb hitting your hips. You'll walk taller, feel and look better.

In the electronic age, bad posture is a rampant condition. It has been identified as a link to further physical problems and even mood/depressive disorders (see article). The ideal posture is not merely throwing one's shoulders back, but involves a combination of weight distribution and spinal alignment that straightens out the spine and neck while evenly dispersing the weight of the body.

So I know a lot of redditors spend a lot of time slouching in front of a laptop, and tend to have a pretty bad posture because of it.
There are several ways to fix it .
With exercises – it requires a bit of consistency, here is a tutorial :

There is also a device that you can acquire for less than $ 5 on the internet called "posture corrector", it looks like this.
It really forces you to stand straight whether you like it or not.
I think combining the 2 is probably the best approach.
Hope this can help some of you!
