Hello, I just wanted to make a request for Dahyhun? I have no plot in mind, but it'll be nice if it you were to make an angst one-shot (because we love sad stuff)
Also, the reader can be Gender-Neutral so everyone could relate to it as well. Thanks in advance 🙇♂️🙇♂️🙇♂️
a/n: there's a little reference to one of my deleted fics if anyone read them before i deleted them 👀
kim dahyun x gender neutral reader
kim dahyun. that's what the crowd roared about as you stood up on stage for the last time that night. your eyes grew weary and pooled with tears, as you looked at the plane that flew above the stadium, reading the banner attached to the back of it.
'kim dahyun, our star. we love you always.'
your eyes wandered across the stadium, all the faces of the crowd staring back at you in earnest. you cleared your throat as you spoke into the mic, the feeling of dread not too far behind, "it's sad to say but this is almost the end of our concert. thank you all for coming out tonight."
the crowd lets out a collective groan as you smile, albeit wryly. you take a deep breath, "and you all probably know this but, today - today... is the 5 year anniversary of dahyun and so... i'd like to celebrate her with you all if that's okay."
the noise from the crowd quickly died down as the silence stretched longer and longer. you sat down in the middle of the stage, wiping away the tears building up in your eyes, "kim dahyun. she was... amazing. she was the first woman i've ever loved. she was funny."
"y/n!" a girl called out for you.
your head instinctively turned around as you smiled. the girl ran towards you, dropping her suitcase on the floor. her body fell into yours as she hugged you tightly. "i missed you so so much."
"i did too. you've been on tour for... what now? 4 months? you don't know how much pounds your dog gained."
she leaned away from your warm embrace as she scoffed at you, "you've been overfeeding him? i'm going to literally starve you."
you laughed as you pulled her back in, "i'm joking! i would never."
your eyes rested on the stars nested on the dark night sky, already beginning to water again.
"dahyun? what's that in your hand?" you blurted out as you stared at her, a small object covered in a brown cloth in her hands.
she stares at you from the doorstep like she got caught red-handed. "uh... it's noth-" then the object moved, shaking the cloth off of it's head. it was another dog.
"look - look i can explain. she was just on the street and i couldn't just leave her the-"
you cut her off. "we can keep her."
her eyes glowed as her lips stretched into a big smile, "you're the best."
your heart pounded against your chest, your tears freely flowing down your cheeks.
"she was the love of my life."
the waves crashed against the shore, the rippling sound of water to your left. you spotted two people sitting down next to each other as they both unluckily got hit by a giant wave, drenching them.
your eyes wander away and to the horizon, the birds squaking as dahyun walked not far ahead of you with her hand in yours. your free hand fiddled with the box in your back pocket, praying that it was still there and you didn't lose it like a klutz.
you tried to make some stupid conversation to keep her occupied as you figured out how to pop the question. "what's your biggest dream in life?"
dahyun smiles swinging your arms wide, answering with no hesitation, "it's you."
she hums as she continues walking, squeezing your hands and never looking back. "i want to love you for my whole life and i want you to do the same. i want us to be able to sing each other's favorite songs for the whole world to hear. i want to be able to share the simpler things together. i want you to love me whole and me to you."
and in that singular moment, there was no other choice you could make.
you stuck your hand in your back pocket but as you pulled it out, the box fell out of your hands, falling into the grainy sand. "shit..."
you let go of dahyun's hand as she stops and walks back to you, curious. "do you need help looking for it?"
"no, i'm fine!" and dahyun's eyes widen as she quickly notices the red velvet box on the ground.
she kneels to pick it up before you, smiling brightly. "oh... was this for me?"
you look down at her baffled and starstruck as she opens up the box and sticks the ring on her finger, letting the diamond on top gleam in the sunlight. "my answer's yes."
emotions clogged up your throat as you gripped the mic tighter. your knuckles turned a pale shade, almost like you were holding on for dear life. "and... even when she isn't here now... she's forever with m- forever with us."
and the crowd stood silent.
it wasn't the absence of sound that haunted you. it was the absence of her. it was knowing that she wasn't hidden somewhere along the crowd to surprise you after. it was knowing she wasn't here to support you anymore. it was knowing she just wasn't here anymore.
you quickly cleared your throat again, faking your smile the best as you can, quickly wiping your cheeks. "this song... was her favorite. please sing along if you know the lyrics."
and the instrumental began.
you could see some people in the crowd wiping their tears away and some stood solemnly, staring right back at you, trying to keep a stoic expression through all the emotions they were feeling. that was the radiant effect of kim dahyun.
the rest of the crowd began turning on their phones' flashlights as waves and waves of people's hands swayed along with their bodies.
your lips parted again, your eyes shutting tight.
you sung, the image of her singing with all of her being ingrained inside of you.
she had her headphones on, completely entranced, her back facing you and her legs crossed. her body swayed left and right, her eyes closed as she sung with that beautiful voice.
you sung and sung and sung along with the girl that you loved because this night...
this night was the night she had always dreamed to see.
