What would be the plans with the azure Lion in your AU? 👀
Oh lord here we go-
Once upon a time, Wukong was not DKC's challenger, but was the Azure Lion.
Now I don't actually ship them, but I find the idea interesting in this au.
Fὰnjῑ had chosen the Lion because:
The Azure Lion was powerful and worked for the Jade Emperor, ensuring Macaque's safety
The Azure Lion had no kingdom (at least in my au) to rule, so if Macaque chose him, they would rule the Macaque Kingdom
The Azure Lion fights with a great sword, something that Fὰnjῑ also fought with when he was still alive
The two had known each other for months, and were good friends. The Azure Lion was supposed to begin his courting session with Macaque after the war against the Eastern Kingdom's had finished, but Wukong beat him to it, and even got to win Macaque's heart.
Though it was disappointing, The Azure Lion let it be, and chose to keep alliances with them nevertheless.
When Wukong was gone for 500 years, The Azure Lion visited Macaque and his daughter. Whenever he did, he would always try to advance on Macaque in hopes of being able to replace Wukong, and increased them when he noticed how quick Jῑnzi grew independent and not too attached to her bὰba.
When the incident with Erlang happened, he thought he lost Macaque. Months after when he sees him though while he's talking to the golden-winged eagle and the yellow-tusked elephant, he tries to convince Macaque to stay with him (and maybe finally replace Wukong and his cub with cubs of their own). But by then Macaque is too angry and deranged to care about it, and leaves to find Wukong to kill.
The two never actually met after that, but maybe once I get my au past the bone demon arc maybe new things will happen~
