11, 23, 24 for fic writer game 😎
i'm in love with you
Link your three favorite fics right now
oh this is a HARD question, especially if i am thinking specifically bg3. i'll go with some that aren't by the lovely person asking this, but for anyone who reads this who hasn't already checked pouralaura out you are only doing yourself a disservice.
the first one i feel like has to be gossamer by @aevallare, but everyone already knows alex's stuff is gold
and obviously this list would be incompleted without talk by @pricemarshfield
and lastly, i had SO much fun with troubled thoughts and the self-esteem to match by @dwarfsized
Best writing advice for other writers?
honestly it's so simple but i feel like. write shit that lights you up inside. write shit that you think only you will enjoy, because if you don't make it then it won't exist. you will often be surprised by how frequently other people wanted it to exist too, and people can tell when an author was having a genuine blast with something.
Worst writing advice anyone ever gave you?
"you should be using your talents to write something original"
i feel like it's a common piece of feedback those of us who are open about our fandom get from those on the outside, and all i can say is that my time spent writing fic has done nothing but get me to write more, write better, and try things i probably wouldn't have if i wasn't receiving encouragement from fandom. i have learned so many new skills from my time in bg3 alone.
idk the end goal of art isn't always something you can monetize, and while i am trying to write original fiction now, i wouldn't have ever sincerely tried if not for my time in fandom
