That.. sounds like a freaking Me-Too story from Hollywood.

It gives off the feelings of naivetie I’ve seen of people recalling being harassed but not having the knowledge or experience to understand what’s happening.

And given the whole “are you really qualified to judge who lives and who dies”  question of game Sans poses and Mettaon’s pacifist route scenes about how many people he’s inspired and made happy... it comes off as siding with those on entertainment scandals who dismiss victims on the basis of “but this famous person made so many people happy, surely that outweighs those they victimized?”

Even if its meant to just be an allegory with nothing sexual...that’s still comes off as siding with the wrong people.

I really doubt Toby Fox was thinking that deep, and he might not even remember the lines given he doesn’t even remember creating some characters. He might have just thrown it in.

But it really should not be there. It adds nothing but discomfort.

Alphys at least got fired but Mettaton gets no comeuppance for this...and its really gross.

I would really like if it could be removed in a future re-release since it wasn’t in the first version of the game.

But I doubt enough people would care. Too many have “I’m reading too much into it.” without properly addressing the fact Mettaton’s whole thing is parodying the awfulness of the entertainment industry.

However, isn’t the power harassment at work the real issue here?”

I found this interesting post on how the news covered situations where people cope with stress by playing video games. I think it’s important to think about.

(Tokyo OBN) Former senior aide to the second-term female lawmaker Rep. Mayuko Toyota (@toyota_mayuko ) has accused his former boss for harassing and assaulting him on a daily basis.

In a voice recording made by the fifty five year-old former senior aide in May who resigned on Sunday after the alleged assault, the forty two year-old second-term Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) lawmaker yells at and hits the former aide in his head, apparently while he is driving a car.

The recording, which was made public on television through NNN, have caused uproars throughout the internet that the LDP leadership is considering to ask Rep. Toyota to leave the party fearing the negative impact on the upcoming municipal elections in the capital.

The abuse was first reported on Thursday in Shukan Shincho, a weekly tabloid magazine. The magazine also published on the web a summarized version of the article with a video that includes the voice recording. They also published the recording on their Twitter as well.

According to the former aide’s testimony, he was first assaulted by the lawmaker about a month ago. Reportedly, Rep. Toyota threatened to “break the skull” of her aide by a metal pipe and also threatened to hurt his daughter in some way. His associates have corroborated the charges that the Representative had repeatedly struck the aide with a coat hanger while yelling words like, “Die” or other derogatory terms attacking on his baldness. Against this remark, a university-based pro-baldness organization issued a statement today on Twitter denouncing Toyota's action as "equivalent to an act of hate speech."

The former aide has resigned last Sunday at the close of the current session of the National Diet and is planning to press charges against his former employer.

NNN reports that Rep. Toyota has refrained from commenting on the revelation since she has “not read the article yet,” but Shukan Shincho reports that the lawmaker’s office have admitted that violence took place and that “monetary compensation” is being considered to resolve the problem.

Lawyers say that the lawmaker’s abusive actions would constitute not only an act of power harassment but also body injury because the victim has already produced two medical certificates indicating facial contusion.

Rep. Toyota was first elected to her office in 2012 as former officer of the Ministry of Health, Labour and welfare (MHLW). She was re-elected in 2016 serving her second term. Graduate of Harvard School of Public Health with masters degree in science, Toyota was once featured in Harvard Gazette as “Public health politician” in 2014 during her first year in office.

Update [16:21] : Rep. Toyota has reportedly submitted her notice of resignation to the LDP. Whether she will resign from her office is still unknown. Her associate have indicated that her physical conditions are "not good," Jiji reports. Kyodo has more in English.
