Our power was turned off this morning for 3 hours (scheduled).
My dumb ass sitting in the dark reading by candlelight because I didn’t think to open the (electric) blinds before.
Meanwhile, my Gen Z daughter:
Can I flush the toilet? (Yes)
Why does my phone still work? (It has a battery)
I thought the internet wouldn’t work? (You are using your data)
Why can I still flush the toilet? (It’s mechanical)
Can I take a shower? (Until the hot water left in the tank runs out *opts not to*)
So I guess the oven won’t work. How about the microwave? (No...)
*slight panic* All the food in the fridge is going to go bad! (It’s only 3 hours, don’t stand there with the door open)
Did you have electricity when you were little? (Uh yes)
But we can watch regular TV, right? (Uh no)
Finally: I don’t understand what electricity is. *returns to room, burrows under the blankets, and resumes watching TikToks in the dark*
I just lost electricity for 45 minutes. Already, I was envisioning myself living in a world where society has crumbled and I would have no choice but to go in the streets, crash shop windows and steal my food. The worst part was to lose wifi though. It was horrible. I was forced to pour myself a glass of Porto in order to survive the anxiety and took a second one because it’s good and I love the effect. ;)

Power is back. Dad is hilarious because my sister had a meltdown about how my dad has lewd figures all over the downstairs and he comes up with the best excuses in the world for them. "We came into this world nude, it's a natural part of life, I dont care about their breasts, I just like the characters." He came up with that one on the fly, but he has characters that he doesn't even know like 2B and Kaine from Nier.
