The window was splattered with water droplets, if you focused enough you could see your reflection in the tiny orbs. Today was like the last few, your team was on a mission and you got left behind, again. You were alone at the compound with nothing to do and you can’t really go anywhere. Mr. Stark gave you orders to sit tight and wait from him and everyone to get back.
‘Just because I’m on the younger side doesn’t mean I’m not capable!’
Your thoughts tortured you and the pure silence of the main living room made it worse.
‘If they’d just give me a chance, I-’. The voice in your head was interrupted but the sound of the elevator doors opening. Your head whipped around, expecting Tony but it wasn’t him, it was another kid? You shot up off the couch and you put your palms up in defense. The golden energy oozed from your skin around your hands.
“Woah, woah, woah! I’m not going to hurt you! I’m just looking for Mr. Stark! He said he would be here today?” The teenager looked around at the empty space that’s usually filled with other voices. You kept your stance. “The mission he’s on is longer than expected, who are you?” You scanned his body from top to bottom. He was decent looking, brown curly hair, and his voice was nervous but it was one of those voices you could never get tired of. “I’m- I’m Peter, Peter Parker.” He took a hesitant step forward, you dropped your hands and took a step forward. Soon your hand met his and shook it. “I’m (Y/N).” your smile was nervous but it seemed to work. He relaxed and let go of your hand.
“Why haven’t we met before?” Before you could say anything, Tony’s system, Friday, answered. “Mr. Stark didn’t want you two to meet until (Y/N)’s powers were as stable as Wanda’s. But it seemed he had scheduled for you two to meet next week at a meeting he had planned.” You and Peter just looked at each other and shrugged.
According to Peter, his aunt was out of town and he was staying at the compound for the weekend. “Wait, how are you involved with the Avengers?” you cocked your head to the side. “Well uh- I.” he rubbed the back of his neck. “I’m uh- I’m Spider-Man.” he dropped his head to look at the floor. His fingers played with the material of the couch you both were sitting on.
“You’re Spider-Man? Like for real?” He looked up to meet your eyes and you couldn’t contain your smile. After he told you that huge piece of information, the conversation just carried on. You both told of all the times you’ve both kicked ass and how he works with his powers. “This weird looking spider bit me on a field trip and from there i’ve been dealing with this.” His eyes met yours and your cheeks turned a soft shade of pink. “How did you get your powers?” You knew the question would come up and you never really told anyone but after hours of talking with Peter, you trusted him.
“Well, you know Wanda and the powers she has. We have the same abilities but mine are more--complex, hence why I produce the gold color.” His eyes met yours as a sign for you to continue. “Her and her twin brother were held in a prison and Hydra had the Scepter, Loki’s to be exact. Wolfgang tested the magic of the Scepter on them, giving Wanda the powers she has and Pietro super speed. Then they found me, I was taken from a children’s home and experimented on as well. It gave me powers but because they knew how it worked, they tested on me until it almost ended my life. So now I have these powers that are really hard to control but I’ve been here for awhile, training has helped me so much and keeping my cool helps too.” You let out a nervous laugh and Peter just stared at you. He was shocked, he didn’t know what to say. “You don’t have to say anything.” He smiled at you slightly. “You can read my mind?” You giggled. “Yes, I can read minds.” His eyes widened at a thought, “What else can you do?” He looked like he just saw a room full of puppies. You thought for a second before concentrating the energy between your hands again. “Well, I have the powers of telekinesis, telepathy, and I can manipulate energy. But I can also read minds and project images into other’s minds. I’m still working on the whole flying thing, Wanda is teaching me how to do that and I can also heal people and things.”
“That’s so cool! Like you can do all that and I just shoot webs from my body. Which sounds kind of gross now that I say it out loud.” At this point he was standing, the look on his face was of pure excitement. “But you’re the coolest person I’ve ever met! I mean both Captain America and Mr. Barnes are really old, like really old and Mr. Barnes has a metal arm. Mr. Stark has the Iron Man suit and Mr. Banner is the Hulk. But this is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen!”
You were in complete disbelief, no one thought of you this way before. You grew up thinking you were just some test subject and nothing more. Even now at seventeen you thought you were nothing more than that. You stood up and hugged Peter. He was taken back but accepted your hug. “Thank you.” He pulled back and looked down at you. He seemed to be confused. “Why are you thanking me?” You looked up at him and smiled. “You think I’m cool, no one thinks I’m cool.” Peter just continued smiling down at you. The longer you both stood there, the warmer your heart felt. Sadly, your moment was interrupted by the sound of your stomach growling at you. You and Peter let out sighed laughs.
“Pizza?”

The rest of the night was filled with pizza and finding thing out about each other. You both have many things in common. It was nice making a friend that wasn’t scared of you but it was getting late, at least you thought. Whatever movie was playing had ended and the credits were still rolling. “It’s probably late at this point, we should probably go to bed.” Peter sat up from where he was sitting and stretched, “Yeah probably.” You reached for your phone on the coffee table and the time read, 5:37am. “Oh, my god! It’s almost six A.M.!” Peter’s eyebrows raised, “No, it can’t be!” You should him your lock screen and he laughed. You looked over to the shaded windows and raised your hand, moving then and exposing the rising sun. You dropped the curtain and stood up next to Peter. “Do you have a room here?” He seemed to be in the middle of a thought. You looked into his head and it showed the last few hours. He was replaying the conversations and stopped on an image of your smile. You knew it was wrong to look into people’s thoughts but you couldn’t help it. He was staring at you before he snapped out of it. “Uh, sorry. What?” You couldn’t help but to let a small giggle slip past your lips. “Do you have a room?” He looked down the hallway to the left of him, “Yeah, it’s one of the last ones down there. I haven’t gotten the chance to decorate it but maybe we can do that tomorrow?”
You smiled like a goofball, you weren’t sure if it was because you were overly tired or because of what you saw in Peter’s thoughts. Whatever it was, it had you giggling. “You mean today?” He just looked at you with a smirk, “I’d love to, it gives me something to do.”

The sound of knocking at your door woke you up. You groaned and got up slowly, making your way to the wooden door. You expected it to be Peter but you’d soon see that your guess was wrong. You opened the door and you were met with Tony. He didn’t seem happy. Since you got to the compound he became a father figure in your life, same with Steve and Bucky. But Bucky was the fun one. “I see you met Spider-Boy.” He walked into your large room taking a seat on the bed. “I did, what’s the problem?” you were honestly confused about why he was upset, you didn’t do anything wrong and neither did Peter.
“You’re not stable yet and you could have hurt him and yourself.” There it is. You just sighed and leaned against the door. “Well I didn’t hurt him or myself and we actually seem to be friends. And on top of that, my powers are a lot more stable than they were before, Tony. You shouldn’t be upset with me, you should be proud.” You got good at playing him, Tony had a soft spot for you since day one. “I know, (Y/N). I’m just worried about you and I am proud of you.” He gave you a soft look and you knew you had him. He placed his hands on his knees and stood up, you moved from the door. He opened it and stepped out but not before kissing your forehead. “Oh and Tony, can Peter and I go into the city today?” You gave him the biggest, toothyest grin you possibly could. He scoffed, “As long as you never smile at me like that again.”
You got changed and did your everyday routine. You wore a simple pair of black leggings and a yellow tank top with a grey sweater over it. You knocked on what you assumed to be Peter’s door and the second you did, you heard a loud thump. A minute later, a sleepy Peter greeted you at his door. His eyes widened realizing it was you. ‘H-Hey, are you ready already? What time is it?” You looked down at the small Apple Watch on your wrist, a gift from Tony, “It’s 1:34 in the afternoon.” You looked up to see that Peter was already getting changed, his bag was on his bed and already a mess of now unfolded clothes. “You don’t need to rush, we have all day.” You leaned against the door frame and watched as he scrambled an outfit together but the second he reached to take his shirt off you looked down. “Do- do you want me to wait in the living room or?” Your cheeks turned a bright red and he realized you were still there. “Uh, yeah, yeah, I’ll be out in five?” He seemed to be as flustered as you were. You pushed your body of of the frame and made way to the large living room which was once again filled with voices. Nat turned her head to look at you and elbowed Wanda. “So (Y/N/N), we heard you made a friend.” Nat winked at you and all Wanda could do was looked down to try and hide her laugher. Tony’s ears must have perked at the works that left her mouth. “I did- uh.” Your cheeks reddened and before Tony could say anything, Peter stepped into view. “Ready?” You nodded your head and paced to the door. Natasha winked again and Wanda waved. Tony had a hard look on his face as he watched you both walk out of the room.
“What was that about?” Peter’s words caught you off guard. “Oh, uh. Nat was just teasing me and Tony wasn’t finding it funny.” You struggled to the words out. “About what?” He looked at you. “Nothing.”
Meanwhile back in the living room Nat was having the time of her life pissing Tony off. “Tony, she obviously has a small crush on the boy. It’s no big deal.”
“‘No big deal’?! Natasha she’s practically my little girl and she is not allow to have crushes! Especially on Spider-Ling!” He was starting to regret letting you go into the city together. Nat caught was he said about you. “Wait, Tony, did you say that she’s like your own?” her face softened and so did Wanda's.
“Well, yeah, she’s been here a bit. Plus I think I’m her favorite.” Nat and Wanda didn’t know all of it. All the training and monitoring, nightmares, anxiety attacks, late nights. Slowly but surely you wormed your way into the Iron Man’s heart. Secretly you both did everything together but they didn’t need to know that.
They just shrugged. “Well, she’s growing up and I’m pretty this is her first real crush. Let her be, you can feel the happiness radiating off of her.” Wanda’s words held purity and innocence. And she could literally feel your energy but no one else really could.
