People like Bayley seemingly existed in juxtaposition to people like Roman — while she had been unable to swing that kendo stick, not from lack of physical ability but from a personal desire to remain true to herself, Roman thrived on hurting people. That was why he was good at his job, after all. But Bayley was a different kind of wrestler; she succeeded because of the fans, for the fans. All those differences probably should have meant that Roman wanted nothing to do with her, but he found himself almost fond of her. It was so refreshing to talk to someone who was always upbeat and kind — almost defiant to those who didn’t think she could make it as the woman she was. ( Maybe they weren’t completely different after all. )
❝ If you’re gonna go after Bliss again, you shouldn’t play by her rules this time, ❞ he remarked in lieu of greeting, voicing a thought that had been in the back of his mind for a while now.
