Pepper Ann episode Girl power and how it reflects to cartoon network reboots like The powerpuff girls (2016)

Pepper Ann is a  Saturday Morning Cartoon series by Sue Rose who is considered the first female to create a disney cartoon series before Daron Nefcy did with Star vs the forces of Evil ,It tells the story about  a pre-teen girl named Pepper Ann Pearson who must deal with everyday life in Middle School while trying to be cool and avoid trouble.It ran from 1997-2000.

However this topic is not about the show itself it’s about one of the episodes in Season 3 called Girl power and why it foreshadows the recent reboot series in Cartoon Network.

In this episode ,Moose’s (Pepper Ann’s little sister who sound like a male teen) favorite superheroine Thundra Woman is getting an animated series  which is replacing pepper ann’s favorite show which is a parody of 101 dalmatians the series,

However when the show airs ,It isn’t the show Moose wished for, It instead is a stereotypical girly girl teen cartoon show that you watched from the 80s like Jem and Beverly Hills Teens along with a sidekick .

This led to a short lived protest by Pepper Ann’s mom and her sister against the tv station who aired the show because they think this version is considered a bad role model for young female viewers and demand that they should  retool the show but they never listened and let the show remain that way .

But listening to a  motivational speech from Thundra Woman from her imagination Moose gathers most of the people from Hazelnut who are fans of thundra Woman  and demand to  retool the show immediately to make Thundra Woman  a strong character instead of being a girly girl which the TV station finally agreed ,

However when the retooled show airs,  It shows another version of Thundra Woman who is barbaric,ferocious and violent and attack defenseless creatures which is once again not  the show Moose wished for ,

But when she and her family once again went to the TV station they thanked her for their gratitude  because this version of Thundra Woman is a ratings hit for their channel but Moose still thinks this is not faithful to her heroine  even her mom’s pitch for a different version of Thundra woman would make things worse as Moose’s says that  this version is not like Thundra woman as well.She begins to explain that Thundra woman is to her a courageous and selfless person especially that  it doesn’t matter whether if she is man or woman.

So in the end  the Tv station decided to  cancel  the Thundra woman cartoon series and instead replace it with a 90’s radical robot cartoon instead.

So why am I explaining this episode well because it reflects the recent Cartoon Network Reboots like The powerpuff girls (2016) and Ben 10 (2016) including Teen Titans go which is just a comedic spinoff not a reboot.Because like the fictional thundra woman cartoon from the pepper ann episode they are not faithful to their source material. 

Such as the powerpuff girls (2016) reboot series which is unfaithful to the original series according to many of the fans of the  original series .Because the original show has the girls fighting crime while dealing with their normal lives especially that it is a parody of  silver age comic books and the 1960s batman series.But the reboot instead is too colorful especially that the series focus more on slice of life situation like modern CN shows ,Poor animation as most people claimed ,It focus less on fighting crime and more on the girls ordinary lives which is not like in  the original series,the expressions on the characters are off-model including the infamous meme moments like the ‘No me Gusta’ Bubbles face,Copying  the style of modern CN shows ,Removing Miss Bellum from the show and even other controversial moments like the twerk part from the episode painbow and it was controversial to the LGBT community for the episode Horn Sweet Horn.

Ben 10 (2016) is a reboot to Cartoon Network's franchise Ben 10 however it received mixed reception from critics and negative reception from the  fans of the original series  because it was too cartoonish ,Made it into a 11 minute segment series since this is what cartoon network does nowadays ,they made the reboot  because cartoon network as they claimed wants to aim for the young demographic ,And like other series of the ben 10 franchise it was not supreme like the original one but is not like the other shows which are mediocre  like Alien Force,Ultimate Alien and Omniverse.

And Lastly Teen Titans Go! Which is a comedy spinoff of Teen Titans (2003-2006) and is considered Cartoon Networks cash cow franchise even though its made by the collaboration of DC entertainment and Warner bros animations and is only aired by cartoon network ,It gain mixed reviews by critics but gain negative reception by fans of the original series and older viewers because this show is considered a bad role model for children despite that the show has bad humour,The fans of the older series thinks it was too comedic unlike the original which balance humor and Drama ,It airs all day everyday especially with too many all day marathons even though cartoon Network wants to focus more on streaming,and it consists of toilet humour.This show may attract young viewers but it gains a massive anti-fandom from older viewers that it was similar to the anti-fandom of Barney the Dinosaur during the 90’s

So What I am saying is that Pepper Ann’s episode Girl power not only reflects the situation with  the current cartoon network reboots but it foreshadows the reaction.

What happens if the Powerpuff girls of 2016 never have the ‘colored’ eyes like the original in the first place?

Whenever i look at the storyboard and episode promotional posters of the PPG 2016 series it made me realise  that these  eyes could have been used for the 2016 powerpuff girls in the reboot series

Look at these storyboard and promotional posters which are made by cartoon network storyboard artist Grace Kraft for example

There is not a single thing that displays the ‘classic’ eyes from the original series,I mean if these ‘eyes’ could have been used for the reboot ,It could have ended up like the image I edited with photoshop here:

And if these type of eyes are used for the final design ,These expressions won’t be off model when ever  they do the expression faces as these eyes are their official design instead of the classic ones but if the classic eyes are not used for the reboot series,Original fans will still complain about the show  as they think that the characters are still not like the original ones similar to what happened to the reaction to the dance pantsed special  ,So nothing changes for the reboot series with or without the ‘classic’ eyes.

Original Blossom has a  crush on the lumberjack from DC comics Powerpuff  girls #17

Before the reboot Blossom has a crush obsessions on Jared (which is disgusting to original fans of the original series) The original Blossom has a crush on the Lumberjack (even bubbles ) from DC comics Powerpuff girls#17 and I have two pages  as proof .By the way, could you imagine if the reboot writers use this as a source material for future episodes since this issue doesn’t involve fighting crime but hear the bedtime story from the professor.

Opinions about the Powerpuff reboot’s Future

Guys,I know this might be considered weird but hear me out,We know that the first season of the reboot has 39 episodes,right? Well since Season 2 has only 28 episodes left since the upcoming The power of Four special is split from 24 to 28 that means season 2 has 11 episodes left,which means some episodes like "Sugar, Spice and Super Lice" and The Trouble with Bubbles will air on October or November while 'You're a Good Man, Mojo Jojo' will air on November or December since it's a christmas episode which means that the last episodes will air either on November ,December or January 2018.

Which means that either the Powerpuff Girls 2016 reboot will end on either Winter 2017 or Early 2018 or it will be renewed for season 3 when it is announced maybe on November,December or January 2018. Am I right?

My take on the series finale of the Powerpuff girls reboot.

The Powerpuff Girls (2016) series also known as PPG 2016  is a series hated by the fans of the original series because it's not like the original, It is considered a cash cow, it has too many controversies and most people say it has low ratings (especially other cartoon network shows)

But what happens if a series finale happens  in season 2 or 3 or 4, It will go something like this, It will be similar to the Sonic Boom season 1 finale It Takes a Village to Defeat a Hedgehog, It will be a half hour finale, There will be many characters from the previous seasons and it will be considered a combination of the original and the reboot series.

It will be called  Big Villain 12(a Parody title of Big Hero Six)  The half-hour series finale begins with 11 of the villains of the PPG reboot Mojo Jojo, Princess Morbucks and her henchmen , The bikini sisters-Bianca and Barbarus, Him,Manboy,Sporde, Janitaur,Gnat, Pug-Faced Paulie and his gang,Jemoire,and Packrat receive their invitation from a mysterious person and to meet each other at a rendezvous point. At the rendezvous point which might literally be a fancy restaurant since this is a cartoon, The villains meet and argue who sent them these invitations and order them fancy meals but then the mysterious person who has gathered them all here appears and he is none other than Silico himself,Which excites Mojo because SIlico is his idol,his role model and he is also believed to be SIlico’s biggest fan. He has gathered all the villains here because they have a common enemy The Powerpuff Girls because the heroes foiled their plans in every episode (which for the fans isn’t because this series doesn’t involve their super heroics just a slice of life thing ) ,So Silico decided that if they work together as a team they might defeat the Girls once and for all and also conquer the city of Townsville, The villains agree and so an alliance is formed .And just before the villains leave, Silico has to pay the waiter for the meals he ordered but he  realises he forgot his wallet back home but fortunately Mojo Jojo has a credit card which is a parody of the American Express with a tagline "Don't leave home without it",

Seeing Mojo's generosity Silico offer him a partnership which excites Mojo, not the villains though they still made an alliance with SIlico since they have a grudge against the Powerpuff Girls. And so Mojo and Silico make a combined power mecha for themselves which can be used to defend and fight against the Powerpuff Girls as Mojo tries to tell Silico that using too much capacity on the mecha will cause it to overload and will no longer function, He ignores Mojo as this will be considered the running joke throughout the episode as Mojo tries to warn Silico about overloading their mecha robot.

Then we see the Powerpuff girls going to do their daily life as usual by  hanging out with  Bubbles friend Donny the Unicorn for example who is helping for his class project in looking around the city of townsville  since this is the reboot cartoon not the original when they are shocked that Janitaur ,Packrat and Gnat the minor villains kidnapped Professor Utonium, So the girls rush out to rescue him from Packrat and Gnat and Donny follow them to see the action.

After the girls defeated Janituar,Packrat and Gnat, The professor however, reveals his true form, He turns out to be of the disguised form of Silico and this was all a trap to lure the Powerpuff girls here as 10 of the villains appear out of nowhere The Girls attempt to defeat them but they can’t fight them all because they are too many of them and that Silico and Mojo's Mecha zap them with a laser cannon.With the Girls defeated the villains stand in triumph that they decided to announce their victory to the City of Townsville.

Meanwhile, Donny who escaped from the villains attacks panicked because the villains capture the girls and are about to destroy them in front of millions of Townsville citizens, So he decided to gather the other allies of the Girls to form an army to defeat the villains and rescue them. We then see a montage showing Donny using his magic to gather the good guys from the PPG reboot like their dad the real Professor Utonium and Sapna who are going on a dinner date,Blossom’s crush (and hatred to the PPG fandom) Jared, Erica the Red, Princess Bluebelle, The Derbytantes,Bliss and Green wing and after the gang is formed they set out to save the girls.

We then see a scene where the 10 main villains announce to the mayor and the citizens of Townsville (and Barry) that they have defeated the girls as shown with them getting trapped in some jail like thing and that there is nothing they can do to  save their town but to bow in front of them as their rulers, all feels lost but then appearing out of nowhere Donny and the cavalry appears and charge towards the villains and save the day,They defeated some of the villains but not the rest and the good guys who are going to rescue the Powerpuff girls are defeated, The villains then mock them with evil laughter as the team feels hopeless in defeat.

Then the girls who witness this realize that their friends must have risked their lives to save them and with that the Girls are finally freed from their prison and begin to attack the villains one by one which leaves only Silico and Mojo in their combined mecha suit, Silico charge the mecha suit despite Mojo’s attempt to warn him which irritates silico that he eject Mojo from the mecha and decides to do it by himself and to ignore what Mojo is trying to  tell him, As Silico is overcharging the Mecha to defeat the girls, It begins to overload and then becomes powerless which Mojo tries to warn him, This gives the girls a chance to destroy the mecha suit while Silico attempts to escape but they caught and beat him with a punch ending up with the rest of the defeated villains.

The girls stand triumph in front of Donny, their allies and the rest of the citizens of Townsville as they cheer them for saving the day but then the girls realize they forgot about Mojo as he is shown escaping from his Eject seat, They caught him but thanked him for his unexpected role in defeating Silico, Mojo confused but is appreciated by the girls ask if they can let him go so he might try to rebuild the Mecha to defeat them once more and conquer Townsville ,The Girls changed their minds and decided to beat up Mojo anyway with a punch. And then we are treated to the last scene which is finally the end scene similar to the original with the iconic ending hearts picture and the Narrator saying ‘And so once again the day is saved, thanks to the Powerpuff girls!’
