Some kind of WIP.
It’s kind of embarrassing that I don’t draw her enough, but this here is Powla, the main character of Malignant Remedy. She’s a crafty lil demi-orphan who is obsessed with magic. But when she realizes she can’t conjure spells she resorts to prestidigitation instead.
Powla (left), a funny girl with a penchant for magic tricks, grew up in an orphanage but isn't a full-fledged orphan. Oddly enough, she receives letters annually, penned by someone who calls himself "father". She is determined to find out who he is and who she really is, but first she must escape the claw-like grasp of her headmistress. . Remy (middle) is a street urchin who has a predilection for creating get-rich-quick schemes, but has not the aptitude to see them through successfully. He is a strange, confident boy who tends to appear and disappear with the turn of a head. He also outrageously claims he works for a network of spies. . I kept Lady Lenna in the lineup but I'm increasingly wondering whether she will make an appearance in the story at all.
An old lineup of the main characters and supporting characters in Malignant Remedy. I say "old" because I've been recently thinking I'll cut Lady Lenna out of the narrative. As plotlines develop some characters become more and more redundant. She seems to be one of them. . Characters from left to right, Evelyn, Wintrem, Zephry, Morchesso, Powla, Remy and Lady Lenna (who may get cut).
Powla 44 of Oshewol grew up in an orphanage with stringent rules and disciplinary teachings for young girls, yet it did not stop her from being a mischief-maker. She was assigned the number 44 at birth which was coincidently a bad luck number associated to magic and mysticism, so many assumed she was just living up to her name. She was always fidgeting with something in her fingers, cracking little jokes at inappropriate times or wearing her uniform incorrectly. Her awkwardness and inherent "masculinity" made it that much harder to "effeminize" to the headmistress' standards, but Mrs. Heart was determined to make a project out of her. . Powla 44 of Oshewol also began to develop an "unhealthy" fascination with magic, something Mrs. Heart condemned vehemently. Although Powla appeared to be born without the skill, she turned to the next best thing, prestidigitation, fooling the other girls with the flick of her wrist, or with a turn of a coin. Unfortunately, this little habit of hers quickly turned into the most dangerous decision of her life. . (Disclaimer: the illustration depicts her in clothing that was given to her by Mr. Glitch. She is not wearing Oshewol's uniform.)
Hey bb 😉I couldn’t resist sending at least one SW meme haha. Happy birthday again!! ❤️
