OH SHIT PINK PEARL WAS BASICALLY FROZEN FOR DECADES (what's a few thousand years but hundreds of decades) JUST LIKE GOLF DAD. Also, pink diamond would have a much easier time causing and getting way with mischief by being a pearl. After all, obviously pink pearl was only following her diamonds orders by releasing those aliens into the ball room! Pink "diamond" would be punished, but surely not her obidient "pearl"! (Or so they assumed. But you know what they say about assuming...)

This is really fucking me up I'm getting too many thoughts about the pink diamond/pearl swap. In Together Alone when Steven was dreaming about playing with pink pearl, he's the one juggling and entertaining pearl. But later we see that spinel, who was given to pink "diamond" to play with, is the one who is performing and entertaining. What if that scene was showing how pearl would always be the one entertaining her diamond, even when in the body of her diamond.

you make me want this. the thing i subscribe to is Spinel intended as a playmate because that wasn’t a Pearl’s function, and that PD used to play with her pearl as friends but whatever happened was a rude awakening about Homeworld roles, so after she can’t play herself - like Steven was supposed to sit through that ball without dancing - it’s Spinel’s job to be her BEST FRIEND! (none of them know or care what a friend is and are shocked when this upends their relationships with Pink somehow)
