drift dangers
What if there was a contingent of anti jaeger scientists
They want to scare people away from the PPDC and so someone comes up with this theory that drifting could be dangerous to individuals; they could get stuck in the drift and fall into a coma like state. Either unable ore unwilling to return to their bodies.
This ‘scientific’ article is published and the PPDC sees a drop in applicants for the academy that year. There are no documented cases of it happening, but just because the article is out there the Drift Science labs are afraid that some idiot will try to prove the point.
Because fighting giant alien sea monsters isn’t bad enough on its own, mankind creates more problems for itself all the time.
Headcanon #42
Rangers, due to PPDC protocol, can not drift 12-24 hours after receiving any kind of mind altering state drugs, which includes any drugs that might have interactions with any of the regular compliment of drugs they receive.
Drugs that might be flagged for this include, but not limited to: headache medicines, certain birth control pills, prescription strength cold medications, fever reducers, allergy meds, a variety of anti psychotics, muscle relaxers, and the occasional vitamin supplement.
Drift and Jaegers
Headcanon: Ranger Pairs that are drift compatible can not pilot more than one Jaeger. If the Jaeger is destroyed they can not, out of choice or otherwise, drift in a new machine. Drift in a simulator sure, but not another Jaeger.
