Entreprenurse Journey Starts Today
Hello!! You and I are finally back! We had a tough week lately but nothing is more important than finally making it through... slowly.
Nothing is new. Same situation where COVID-19 virus is everywhere, that is why our team had planned to “why not make this pandemic a little bit fancy?”. We mean, since facemask is a necessity, why not look like Billie Eilish?
Yes, we planned to make a facemask that is not too repetitive and monotonous, but of course it is health-wise. Considering some features that has antimicrobial diffuser, convenience with the strap, and transparent so that cosmetics will bring back its trend. Unfortunately, that was just our FIRST PLAN. We did not hesitate to drop the idea after being evaluated by our instructor for the reason that, obviously. it’s common.
So we did explore possibilities! Of course, we went back to the very beginning...
We followed our instructor’s advise that observing people is important, to find out a problem with regards to something where business can make benefit. So each one of us proposed a product in relation to our observation and mine was a smart umbrella. For a reason that, if a person experiences a sudden and unexpected change of the weather, schedules set prior will likely to be postponed or even it can alter his physiologic response to such unexpected stimuli. This smart umbrella can detect the temperature, weather, and humidity while in use, as well as it will transition from transparent to off-black shade umbrella whenever it detects sun rays. Suggestions of others also come up with a convertible wheelchair into a crutches, cloth facemask that has an antimicrobial factor, hair spray, face mask sanitizer, and PPE vending machine.
Out of all suggestions, the team finally made a choice of choosing the PPE vending machine! We found out that this is existing in Canada and Japan, however it is remotely placed in airports only. For that reason, we planned to put this up in public places where there are a lot of people. They can easily access if they forgot to bring face shield (which is a common scenario) or if their facemasks were already worn out. If this happens, passers-by will not be left behind in protecting themselves against the virus. The team brain-stormed on what features are to add in product. Amazingly, we come up with an idea of a systematic vending machine which starts by dropping the money and immediately followed by an automatic hand sanitizer before touching the keys. This is to ensure the safety of users not getting contaminated. It would be ironic to think that we are selling PPEs but our machine is unsanitary...?? We have a lot of options to add as features in this vendo but we opt not to exaggerate since we prefer a low-maintenance machine to be realistic.
The group ended up this kind of innovation and along our journey in making the concept, we effectively worked as a team and learned something even at the very beginning. We realized that it is important to come up with something out from a problem, and not from nowhere. We realized that it is okay to fail and best to receive critique and rejection, since this will lead us to come up with a much better improvement.
