Scituate Arts' Front Street Art Gallery Will "Discover Whispers of Pastel" with Christine Bodnar & Eileen Casey Sept 14th - Oct 9th FEATURED Pastel Artist: Christine Bodnar Bodnar, a national and international award winning pastel artist, has a fascination for color and how it could change the mood and feeling of a moment in time. Her work is derived from observing her natural surroundings; her interpretation is contemporary realism with an expressive style. Whether it is the glorious hues of an evening sky or the interesting play of water reflections, she reacts and responds with pastel as her voice. She has earned the level of Master Circle and Eminent Membership status from the International Association of Pastel Societies. Her paintings have been shown in museums and galleries throughout the U.S. in national and international juried exhibitions. She has been in publications such as American Art Collection special editions, "Focus on Artist". Her pastel work has also been submitted in the publication, "Pure Pastel: Contemporary Works by Today's Top Artists." FEATURED Pastel Artist: Eileen Casey Casey, a Sandwich resident who grew up in Scituate, most often paints bird nests, trees and lily pads, koi and reeds. Casey strives to convey movement and peace, sometimes simultaneously, working in a series and exploring varied techniques that incorporate underpainting or monotypes. Her intention is to interpret and abstract the natural world around her as she sees it in her mind’s eye to share with the viewer. She is an International Association of Pastel Societies Eminent Pastelist IAPS-MC/EP and Cape Cod Art Center Master Artist. She has earned Signature memberships in the Pastel Society of America, the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod and the Connecticut, Maine and Central MA Pastel Societies. She and her work has been included in Pastel Journal Magazine, including 2013 First Place and 2017, 2022 Honorable Mentions.
