Started on the second Murloc inspired sock, and you may have already guessed that his guy has a bit of a story attached. While dyeing the first dye lot of "More Than A Fish" I had ten 30g sock blanks (to make 5 pairs of Shorty Sock Twins). After steaming, rinsing and drying them they went to be rewound by my amazingly helpful Mother. Who texted me the second picture along with the message: "Lleap shorty come in pairs? Right? Why do I have 9 of them?" The studio was searched. Gnomes were blamed for stealing yarn again (yes, again) and finally my ability to count and my sanity we're called into question (also again). I resolved that I would simply have to knit the odd ball into a sample sock and went on with my show prep. A little more wary of Gnomes with a penchant for very bright yarn. Fast forward a week and I am in the dye studio again and grabbing a clean dye towel from the bin....only to see a fluorescent hint of yarn peeking out from between the folds of towel. See third photo for the poor little sock blank who went on the craziest adventure of his little life! He may have safely made it through the wash and dry but he wasn't completely unscathed. Some dye had transferred where it didn't belong and I was pretty sure he had never made it into the steamer in the first place. I resoaked him in acid solution, overdyed what I could. Steamed him, rinsed him, dried him and called him mine. Flaws and all! He will be my very special Murloc sock and when his Brother retires from the Show Sample Circuit they will make my nerd girl heart (and feet) warm and happy. #LladyLlama #indiedyer #missingsock #sockknittersofinstagram #knittersofinstagram #knittersgonnaknit #epicyarnstory #seriouslytho #practicallylotr #doigetexperiencepointsforthis
