Original lyrics about a man I met in a liquor store. Production can be found here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWOsX...  It is interesting how people have opened up to me all my life, usually the down trodden. Two grown men have cried to me in the month I have been working at the Liquor Store. People who probably don’t have anyone else to talk to. This time was extra special because the power had gone out in the store. So, we had a lot more time to chat. And he told me a bunch, apologized for sharing so much, but I assured him it was fine. To be honest, these guys are the closest things to friends I have in Denver. The people I speak to most on a consistent basis, they and my co-workers. But if I’m honest, my conversations tend to run deeper with the guys who come in and buy dollar beers most days of the week. They often are the most open, the most interested and the most engaging- the men who live on the streets or in shelters or in some kind of halfway home. And for the most part, they are staying healthy. I pray that they will stay that way. Many of them older vets- survived much worse. My love goes out to the men whose names I do not know, but have been touched by in these trying times.

 Dumped, robbed, just enough money to my name to pay rent and bills. Left behind by a man who I thought I would marry. The men whose names I do not know remind me that I am still lucky. I still have some privilege and opportunity and support on my side. I’m not where they are at and that is only because of my parents and their ability and willingness to help me when my boyfriend left me in another country and then I got scammed out of $2600 and had to find a place to live. Shit has not been easy, but I’ve had a roof over my head and the comfort of a healing space. A personal space to create, to connect and to engage with spirit. Love to all the homeless and people living in between. Also- be compassionate in the stores you go to. Be extra kind to the people who work there. If you’re shy or in a bad mood, make a stronger effort.  Working with the public is always a thing- Corona Virus time, even more so. Folks are dealing with more than you probably realize.
