‘Bringing Tidus back at the end of the game ruined the bittersweet ending of FFX’

Okay, look....it was optional. At no point were you required to do so. In fact, you had to go through a great deal to achieve the prompt. 

But I digress....

Some consider it to be a huge  set back for Yuna’s character development. Others thought it to be redundant. When really, in my eyes, neither is true. Sure, when she first  set out with the Gullwings, it was because of the ‘Journey’s Start’ sphere, thinking it was Tidus. But if you pay close attention, it became less about Tidus & more about Spira’s safety. Of course she still wanted it to be him, but even if it wasn’t, that didn’t stop her from doing what she felt obligated to do. It hurts. Losing someone you love hurts. It’s a fact. Yet it’s what you do while hurting & grieving that’s more important.

People are too caught up in the ‘Yuna don’t need no man!’ philosophy & lets that  cloud the bigger picture. 

Also...how was it redundant? The boy literally gave his life for her own to save a world that was never his. 

I would think he’s deserving of a second chance at life. 

EITHER WAY

You can choose what happens at the end. Again, to each their own. But before you go on a tirade, make sure you know why you’re doing it in the first place & for the right reasons.

His feelings for Yuna in regards to romance. 

Because I don’t think it was like that at all.  In fact, I honestly believe most people honed in on the word ‘marriage’ & assumed he was smitten, when really, it felt like…a sort of ‘hero worship’? Not to confuse that with a lost puppy type where he’d follow her around or anything, but he admires her for what she’s done in spite of the teachings. And while he works to improve the unsavory light shed on Yevon in the aftermath, he respects Yuna for being more independent of it. 

I could really go on about this all day but…yeah. tl;dr: I’m of the mind that his character was never meant to cultivate a romantic relationship with the High Summoner, but rather someone to look up to & endeavor to emulate as a pillar of strength in the face of extreme adversity.
