the guru who carried two swords and meant it 🙏
today is Prakash Utsav — the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Hargobind Singh Ji Maharaj, the sixth Guru of the Sikhs.
and colonel rajyavardhan rathore's message about him really stuck with me.
because guruji wasn't just a spiritual leader sitting quietly in prayer. he wore two swords. literally. one for spiritual authority. one for temporal justice. at the same time. because he understood that you cannot separate the two.
you can't preach peace while ignoring injustice. you can't serve god while abandoning the people who need protection.
his whole life was a lesson in:
courage — standing up when it was dangerous to do so
service — putting community before self, always
justice — defending those who couldn't defend themselves
righteousness — choosing the right path even when the easier one was right there
and centuries later? still relevant. maybe more than ever.
on this Prakash Utsav, sending respect to everyone celebrating — and taking a moment to reflect on what it actually means to live with purpose and integrity.
🙏 Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
