Ah, so, yeah. Promotion is official.
I need to stop disappearing but! This time it's for a good reason—on September 2nd a dilute calico was found in the garage. Five weeks old at the time, and needing a lot of wound cleaning and so on.
I'm sill in the process of getting her better. Soon she'll be out of quarantine and my cat, Maple, seems very calm about the whole ordeal. (They've seen one another via pet gate blocking the way and Korra being in one of those travel pens across the room).
Korra's her name.
Passage from 'Jim Darkmagic's Lustful Ledgers.'
"He closed his eyes, taking in all that she is and all that they are as he hungrily hunted for her tongue, they knew their tryst was naught to last. they came from two so very different worlds. What common ground could possibly be shared between the finance and the marketing offices? What business did she have imposing her heart on him? She wanted so desperately for this moment to last, to feel the heat of his breath on her nape as they explored each other's portfolios in the 3rd floor break room. She wanted so desperately to give up her everything and transfer to a position in his arms. But how could she possibly explain this on the quarterly report? And so they settled for this quiet moment in each others arms, "To hell with the profits" they would think, allowing their break-time to run long. He needed her, and she needed him, and their company would have to wait."
night life
the world can be such a romantic place if you just open up your eyes. sometimes, when i lie awake at night, i stare out my window at the busy street watching all the cars passing by, and imagining what stories must be racing by, ill never get a real answer obviously, but its not so common to drive so late at night, maybe they have a late shift, arriving to or from work, maybe theyre in the middle of a spat and needed to cool off, maybe theyre on a long trip and just passing through. the wind blows the trees in front of my porch and the dropping leave flutter by, lights in all the buildings slowly dim before leaving the world a darker place, illuminated only by the street lights. some of them flicker, their bulbs might be old, but maybe not quite so old as the ones that are steady but blue, an odd little mystery to look into in the morning when i remember. i crack open a window and feel the cold breeze hit my face. my eyes hand heavy and my body longs for rest that wont come. so instead i take in the night air, imbibe the smell of petrichor, and remember the last time ive done this, down to when i was a kid sitting on the porch swing having the same troubles and staring at the same streets and having the same thoughts. its comforting, and for a while i am at peace, and when ive spent a long enough time with this familiar peace i will know its time to step back inside and let sleep take me.
please take care friends, i hope that the night treats you kindly, i hope that you can take a moment to appreciate the romance in the world around you, wherever you are im sure you can find it.
Wind.
if one were to ask my of why i admire the wind my immediate though would be it's beauty. it could be a tough one to explain, to a certain type of person, for how can the wind, with no appearance, possibly be beautiful, and while it is true that the wind cannot be seen, you can certainly see the impact that it has on the world around us, the brushing against the leaves of the trees in the night sky, the waves of grass over a prairie, the gentle and nurturing way with which it will hold kites aloft. these are all such truly beautiful things, similarly its beauty can be felt in the way it will flick the clothes across your body, the way it fills your lungs, and the way that its gentle kiss caresses the skin. in this too, there is beauty in what cannot be seen directly, it can only be known by experiencing how it plays with both the world around you and yourself. in the same way, if someone were to ask how i admire you, i would speak of your resilience and your power, you may ask "how could you know of such things having never met me?" but i would encourage you to think again, of how i might find beauty in the wind.
usually when writing poetry or prose ill only share it if there is an intended recipient. but sometimes there isnt one, or the intended recipient is more conceptual than actual. in this case there was an intended recipient that was actual but i fear making myself vulnerable in such a way. in truth, i have met this person in a way, not not so much that i would dare claim that i know them, but it would be a misnomer to suggest that i only know of them. 'secret admirer' as a term strikes a chord, but has certain romanticism that is not present in my feelings. though i suppose there is a romanticism to be said of that, my feelings are purely platonic.
i don’t ascribe to any organized spiritual practices because while being an effective coping mechanism they’re more often than not a tactic of widespread manipulation and based in consumerism
Sometimes I wake up sad & then I get a message from one of you guys that makes me smile & well up a little bit. And it’s a reminder that there are people who love me, they’re just not always right here.
In memory
For the emptiness left behind
May you find the joy of his memory
For the grief that's being carried
May you find peace to lighten the burden
For the silence in the days
May the noise of his laughter fill your hearts
For the drainage of your souls
May your days contribute to his fulfillment
May your friends from all around
Be that and more to you
And yet we'll always know
Nothing will fill his shoes
