Yesterday, while studying with the amazing Yoga Sutras 201 course with @yogicstudies , my mind was curious about the explanation of Pratyaksa (one of the ways to experience Correct Knowledge, through direct experience). Seth Powell was explaining that H. Aranya on his commentary on the Bhasya splits Pratyaksa into “Direct Perception” and “Experience”. Taking what he exposed in regards to this differentiation, I started thinking about this concept applied to Asana. We first perceive the posture through our senses, let’s say we listen to the instructions, or we see it with our eyes, or we even feel it in our body. This perception is an interesting experience. But something changes when we have an internal experience of that which we are perceiving... I would like to think that this might be experience of the soul, and under the understanding that Asana is only the means and not the goal, I assume also, this internal experience arises rather while we do a handstand or while we fold forward with our knees on the floor. . . 📷👉🏽 @fotosbyboca . . #asana #balasana #svadhyaya #selfstudy #pratyaksa #practicekindnessandcompassion #practiceequanimity https://www.instagram.com/p/BtoT8gmFolW/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=at397gy5v8yu
