even if you should wish to give your help i would not take it now. ( SNEK MOM?)
“you do not get to choose how you are loved.” he can try to manipulate her however he’d like, can rage rage rage against her, against what she believes in, but medusa is a kingdom wall and he is an archer’s arrow: he might stick, but she won’t break.
“it is not up to you. to be perfectly blunt, this is not something that is under your control. it’s under MY control. and you will have my help, whether you wish for it or not. that is what love is.”
how long, she wonders, how long until he realizes that telling her this will, ultimately, do nothing? she is unbreakable. she is unmovable. he may be unstoppable, but she is his opposite; let him be a hurricane if he wishes, let him be cruel and ruthless and angry. she is the one thing he cannot shatter, because she was never something that could be called his. it’s the other way around, maybe.
“you are a son to me. family. i do not know how you wizards do family,” a lie, she knows perfectly well, “but where i come from, it is not something you can run from. family is family. they do not leave.”
even if he is not used to the idea of family as love and unconditional support. even if he wants to hurt her. even if he wants to do terrible things. she will show him love, and she will show him strength, and she will show him this: that she will never leave, even if he demands it.
“everyone needs someone they cannot control, someone who is unafraid of them, someone who is strong. i am that person. you do not want help? fine. but you cannot say you don’t need it.”
