pete mctighe is great at characterisation, dialogue, and tying together various plot threads, but he needs a special political advisor close at hand every time he writes an episode to make sure he doesn’t well-meaningly blunder into awful optics again liberal style

I love how when Matthew McNulty's characters are experiencing joy he has a tendency to have them looking around excitedly for other people's reactions. very golden retriever energy!

Chibnalls favorite thing to do is introduce an entire ensemble into a plot and then when he doesn't know what to do with the surplus characters he just violently kills them off and their deaths leave no impact on the narrative

Pete Mctighe really likes to end an episode off with the doctor yelling at us about individual responsibility and personal harm as to why this system continually harms us all :)

they really turned the doctorification all the way up for Yaz in Praxeus huh?

going on a mission on her own. with her own companion. seeing a teleport and just going "let's go see what's on the other side :D oh yeah we could land in the middle of a thousand different dangerous things. still there's no way we're not going :D". investigating the new place and drawing conclusions in a very doctor-y fashion. BEING SO DISAPPOINTED WHEN IT'S NOT AN ALIEN COLONY SHE DISCOVERED. GOING "YESSS" WHEN THE DOCTOR SAYS THEY ALL GET A GOLD STAR. (remind anyone else of "how did i do? was i okay?" "this wasn't a test, Clara." ??!)

the way she's looking for the Doctor's approval. the way she's trying so hard to be like her and is already scarily good at it.
