So this is probably a question with an obvious answer but. What exactly is the Praxic Order?
At first i thought it was the people who liked to get themselves killed in every possible way because they think it'll give them visions. But then we travel to some kind of Vault where they store paracausal materials, giving me the vibes as an scp-foundation equivalent for dangerous paracausal artifacts
But then they also just seem to have always had lightsabers. Or Praxic Blades rather, made of Light
The order you were thinking of are the Thanatonauts! They're the ones killing themselves for visions and insight into death. Warlocks are normal.
The Praxic Order are an order dedicated to the Light and are fiercely opposed to Darkness. They would hunt down and fight any Guardians straying to the Darkness, as well as keeping any relics of Darkness and Darkness powers contained and out of people's hands. Their main idea is that we don't need to know what the Darkness is or understand it, we just have to fight it and get rid of it.
The Acataleptic Clause claims that we are intrinsically unable to understand the Darkness. In many respects this belief parallels the Praxic Creed, which suggests that we should stop worrying about the nature of the Darkness and focus on resisting and defeating it.
This might give context to some of Aunor's struggles with stuff happening in the campaign and especially in the dungeon, with how we treat and use Darkness, and how the Praxic temple accepted Darkness as part of the Praxic blade. It also helps with the context of why she's afraid to bring this up more with her fellow members; she got her mind changed, but the rest of them... Well.
They're a fairly fanatical bunch, though it depends on the member. We've known a couple of them over the course of the game; for example, Eriana-3 was a Praxic Warlock, and so was Taeko-3, and Shayura. And Aunor obviously. They also have a single Titan, Siegfried, who is literally the most fanatical of them; first introduced all the way back in Season of the Hunt (first season of Beyond Light) - his lore on the Titan armour set (starting with gloves). He was also featured a little in Haunted. He's still active.
Praxics will try to capture and use different methods to help any corrupted Guardian, and they refrain from straight up killing them. A good example is one of the early corrupted Guardians that would lead us into Beyond Light from this lore tab. Aunor kills the corrupted Guardian and disables the Ghost from resurrecting because the Ghost appeared to be corrupted as well. I have a write-up on this whole plot from a couple of years ago here.
However, they're also not entirely opposed to just going in guns blazing. I definitely recommend checking out Aunor's lore book from back in Season of the Drifter. And it needs to be said that it's been a long time since, both for us as players and in-game. Many things have changed, and the Praxic Order faced a lot of challenges with our acceptance of Darkness and continue to face them, as evidenced by Aunor during the entirety of Renegades and especially in the exotic mission and the dungeon and its quest.
Their Praxic temples and the Praxic blade are obviously new additions, but I think they fit in fairly well overall and I especially like the way Praxic temples are set inside Pyramid architecture. A very common practice of a new or conquering faith to take over places previously owned by some other ideology to show power over them. So Praxics taking over Pyramid temples and building over them is such a neat little detail and I really enjoy it as a new addition. It's Praxics exerting their ideology of Light over the Darkness in physical space by claiming those "tainted" places and changing them as proof of victory.
