Valentine's Cheese Tag

I'm a very poor judge of the difference between good romance lines and cornball ones, because I love all of it.

So... maybe this is cheesy? Idk.

Right after Praxas confessed that Bhaal's plan was always to betray the others, he and Gortash finally said the fucking words:

“You may be an asshole, but you're not an idiot. So, why tell me? Did you want to humiliate me, to shit on everything we had together, and throw it back in my face with a parting promise not to kill me? At least, not on purpose.” 

His voice was calm, almost instructional, as Praxas replied, “I wanted you to know the truth, but I'm still going to do everything you want, play my part in the plan. When the time comes, you just kill me instead. I can kill Ketheric for you first, if you want. Or you can send someone for me, but when the time comes, you better have them strike fast. The Urge will fight hard to ensure Father's will is done. Best if I'm dead before it can take over.”

“That isn't an answer.”

“I suppose it's not; it's a promise—from an idiot. There's no one else I'd ever do this for. That's why I told you. If I have to die as a failure, a disgrace—alone—at least I will die knowing that you know you are loved. That there is one person in this world who loves you enough to sacrifice everything. Willingly. No tricks. No coercion. You didn't fool me; I've always seen you. I will be tortured for all eternity, for you.” His voice broke as he continued, “Even if you never love me back. Can I go now? Or are you not done ripping me apart?!” 

“Don't go,” Gortash whispered, and hugged him. His head against his chest as he squeezed him, he confessed, “You aren't the only idiot here.” 

“I'm not?”

“Of course not, asshole. You didn't know from the first night we spent together? All the ways I said it without saying it? I do. I love you.”

Praxas wrapped his arms around Gortash, holding him tight, his cheek on the top of his partner's head as he announced, “We are so fucked.”

Durgetash Week

My default Durge Praxas is a soft dom, and Gortash is a power bottom who also switches.

[If you hate epithets, you won't like this. I can't write M|M without them because the part of the brain that lets people ignore the repetition of proper names exists only in myth to me. They stick out like the sorest of thumbs.]

Praxas [To Gortash]: Point to the one who made you feel an emotion. [Gortash points, subtly] I will erase them by morning. Did you like the last souvenir?

Gortash: It was very thoughtful, but it is beginning to smell like your sister.

Praxas: Ugh, all that wasted skin! She knows it's the best part. She makes it into armor just to spite me. Sorry. [Clears his throat] I'll make Sceleritas pickle your souvenir this time.

Durge who was so in love with Gortash that they would have done anything for him. Gortash who remembers everything BUT the love - because if he did - the knowledge of what he'd lost would have destroyed him. Durge doesn't remember either.

When they see each other again, something lurches inside them both, but they don't recognize it for what it is...

For what it's worth, I think I always liked you, too. But this is how it must be.

There is hesitation in his eye for one moment. A passing thought of all times spent together you'll never remember.
