I feel like I don't know how to pray. I feel as though I don't know what to say to him.. so I find myself hardly ever praying. Any advice?

Great question!

Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV) says,

"After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”

These verses are to be looked at as a template for how we should address the Lord when we come to Him. We should thank Him and worship Him for who He is. We should repent and ask forgiveness for our past injustices. We should also ask Him to intervene in our affairs day in and day out. We should seek His face daily and apply His will to our lives.

The great thing about it is that you should feel free to talk to God like you talk to a person sitting next to you.

He doesn’t always need the, "OH GLORIOUS FATHER IN HEAVEN ABOVE, I HUMBLY BESEECH YOU AT THE THRONE OF GRACE AND PRAY THAT YOU POUR OUT AN UNEQUIVOCAL BLESSING ON MY MAMA. AND THE CHURCH SAID, AMEN AND AMEN."

Sometimes He just wants the, “Dear Lord, I’m having trouble in school. The way Alex treated me the other day sucked and it really hurt me. I  want to thank you for who You are and for protecting me. Also help my relationship with my Dad to grow. Amen.”

Be real with God and He will be real with you. And He longs to hear your prayers. 1 Peter 5:6-7 says,

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."

Christ invites you to bring your hurt and pain to Him, so that He can work in your life. Seek Him today!

Hi sorry to bother you, but I have a friend who has recently got involved with drinking and drugs and is trying to be rebellious. I want to help her, but whenever I mention something she says I am judging her. I just don't want to see anything bad happen to her. What do you think I should do?

Hey there!

I have been in your situation before. It’s hard to see a friend slip away into the wrong lifestyle, especially when they think you’re judging them when you show concern.

In these cases, I usually just let them know that I’m praying for them and that I’m here for them. Other than extending those offers, all you can do is love on them like crazy. Show genuine interest in their life, thoughts, and feelings. Show them what it means to be a true friend - one who sticks close through all trials of life to help one another up. 

Pray, pray, pray! There is so, so much power in prayer. Pray against the strongholds in her life and pray that God will reveal His love to her. 

Praying for your dear friend to overcome and for you to continue to be a glowing light of love.

What do you do on the days you dont feel like praying? the days you dont know what to say?

Hi there! :)

When I encounter days like that, or even seasons like that, I sit in silence before God. Silence has it’s place, because God is wanting to speak to us. When I have days like that I just ask God to speak what He needs to to me and to let my heart be silent and open before Him to receive. Then other times when I don’t know what to say I just meditate on what I already know - His promises, His goodness, His sovereignty. 

"“Be still, and know that I am God." -Psalm 46:10

There is a difference between not knowing what to say, so you don’t spend time in His presence at all - and not knowing what to say, and having your heart open and sitting in silence in His presence.

What are some good passages to get back into reading the Bible. I've had a hard time being consistent and motivated lately. Thanks!

Hey there! I understand how you’re feeling and have been there many times, as I’m sure most of us can admit.

In one of my classes it is encouraged that we read 5 Psalms and 1 Proverb a day and to pray through them. Even if I don't always get through each Psalm I should each day, I have found this very helpful to really reflect on the Lord and all of his attributes, and in this I’ve found more of a deeper wanting to learn more about Him and his word. You can also find a good reading plan or devotional plan that can be emailed to you each day. Bible Gateway has some awesome ones and there is something for everyone so I encourage you to check them out! They're nice because you can have them emailed to you each day, that way there are no excuses for not doing devotions. ;D

My sister has Rett syndrome, she is only 3 years old. She can't use her legs or hands (walk, crawl, feed herself, etc), she can't talk at all as well. Please pray for her, I believe she will be healed! Thank you!

Dear Heavenly Father, 

I pray for my friend’s sister, Lord, that you would strengthen her, Lord. I pray you would remove this syndrome from her and enrich her quality of life, Father. Lord, by Your stripes she is healed! I pray a gradual return of function to that baby girl’s limbs, that she might be able you use them to get where she needs to go. Let her get a great testimony out of is. And Lord, because you are sovereign, even if you don't do these things, please help her realize that you are still there with her and for her. We bless your name and thank you for the victory.
