I burned the Prayer of Jabez on this 14x11 bamboo tray last night. What can we learn from one of the simplest prayers in the Bible? First, bring all of our wants and concerns in a sincere way to the Creator. Even though he knows all, don’t always lean on a “God knows what I want” attitude. Be specific with your blessing request and be faithful to pray for it. Think about your motives for your prayer as well as your personal calling because only He knows that for you. Your problem or request may not be easy to fulfill, but He always answers. Sometimes He gives a Yes and sometimes we receive No’s, but His Will always lines up for what is best for you.

A Word From Pastor Mark - August 2020
Sunday was not a normal Sunday for any of us. I am used to get-ting excited to see you walk through the church doors. I am used to shaking hands, hugging, encouraging, being encouraged, eating donuts, studying God’s Word together, praying and worshiping together. I am used to hearing about your week. I am used to being thankful that I was able to spend time growing closer to Jesus and to you each Sunday.
No, Sunday was not a normal Sunday for any of us but God does great things when times are not normal. God is answering a prayer that Pastors and our DWT corporate prayer group prays weekly. We have been praying the Prayer of Jabez for years.
The statement that God is answering in this unique time is:
“Oh, that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory.” God is expand-ing our territory because of the need to do things differently.
Because we were online on Sunday there were many more people that experienced our worship service and heard the Good News. Based on Facebook statistics a large amount of people watched at least part of our worship service (and those numbers will continue to grow each day). These people have never walked through our church doors.
It is scary to walk into our church because you don’t know what those “Baptists” do behind closed doors. Do they handle snakes? Do they jump around in a frenzy? Do they sacrifice animals? Do they coerce you out of your money? Do they brainwash you? Do they scream fire and brim-stone sermons at you?
People who were curious about Cornerstone watched our video worship service from the safety of their own home. They saw that we love Jesus. They saw that we love to sing to God. They saw that we preach from the Bible. They saw that we care. They heard the good news of Jesus Christ. And they saw that we don’t handle snakes :)
God is doing something big during this time. You can help spread the good news and get Cornerstone into unchurched people’s homes by inviting them to check out our worship services. You can invite people to join one of the two Facebook Watch Parties on Sundays at 10 a.m. There are ELD and DWT watch parties going on simultaneously at 10 a.m.
These are easy ways to invite people to connect with us. “Heavenly Father- Oh that you would bless Cornerstone indeed and that you wouldenlarge our territory…”
My prayer today and every day. God has truly blessed me and has been teaching me how to y’all to Him. He is so precious! The more I talk to Him and read His word, the closer I get to Him. I fall in love with Him more and more everyday.
